    Is a signet a spell?

I have some confusion about the way skill types work... Signets, hexes, curses, enchantments, blessings, warcrys, rituals, spells, glyphs and so forth...Which ones are not effect by "spell" counters such as Mesmers backfire, powerspike and Rangers tounge biter?

The ones that are affected by a skill that specifically counters spells, have "spell" as their type. Signets are ... well, this may sound silly, but ... signets. They are affected by skills which specifically target signets, or that target all skills in general, only. Things like "Watch Yourself!" are shouts, and therefore wouldn't be affected by something that counters spells. I hope that clears it up for you a bit.

I think so .Only skills that specify its a spell are effected by tounge biter.. curses, blessings, hexes are not considered spells...right?

Mmm, no, all things that need to be casted are affected my tongue biter. Ok, so maybe it wasn't QUITE as simple as I made it out to be :). Tonguebiter silences the target, which prevents them from CASTING anything. In most RPGs, anything you cast would be considered a spell, but here that's not necessarily the case. Players still "cast" hexes, blessings, etc. even if they aren't considered "spells". Honestly I'm not sure if tonguebiter would prevent shouts, I'd have to check on that.

So power spike (If target foe is casting a spell, the spell is interrupted and your target takes 22 to 56 damage.) wouldn't work on someone using a Signet skill? O.o

I'd have to try that one out specifically, but to my knowledge, no it would not affect the person using the signet.
