It makes a really good sandwich! (think Italian meatballs), but my fave sandwich growing up was peanut butter and mayonnaise. You may commence being thoroughly grossed-out, everyone.
Meatballs are best eaten with boiled potatoes, creamy sauce and lingonberry preserve. Period.

And yes, your childhood sandwich sounds disgusting.

Actually, no, I don't. I'm not a fan of cheeseburgers, since they make my throat go funny and my stomach even worse. (I'll spare you the details.)

Again, you come in with too many expectations since you're from Sweden. Meatball subs are deliciousness.

What's wrong with American cheese? I agree, Kraft slices aren't always great, but if you get American cheese sliced at a deli, it's incredible.

And yes, Thul. Peanut butter and mayonnaise is gut-wrenchingly awful. I prefer peanut butter and honey.

Thul, we talking about Miracle Whip or Helmann's (sp?)?

I might just try it to see what it tastes like... I mean common... I really love mayo and pb ain't so bad either. Can't be all that bad together right? >.>

Your meatball-based meal does, indeed, sound better than a sandwich.

First off, Miracle Whip is salad spread or some such non-mayo thing. Hellmann's in my house, all the way! Accept no substitute. (This is a prejudice from my father, mostly - it was his childhood sandwich, as well...)

We're also not talking about gobs and gobs of mayo here, just a nice coating over the peanut butter, to taste. Hmmm - going to have to dig me up some good mayo somewhere in Taiwan and give this a try again after all these years.

If you enjoy it, throw some sliced banana in there, and you have a great little sandwich.

@Crimson - peanut butter & honey is just awesome! That's what I graduated to as an adult.

    Eww eww eww...

What's wrong with you people? Suitable sandwich additions are stuff like cucumber, salami, ham (boiled or smoked), tuna, tomatoes and lettuce (among other similar things), or if you must have something sweet, marmalade. For the life of me, I can't understand peanut butter and such at all.. *shudder*

Well, duh. Peanut butter goes terribly with cucumbers and salami. Sheesh.

It's generally tasteless. And I don't mean those Kraft slices only. I just prefer some North-Holland (Dutch province) cheese. I found most American cheeses too young.

A regular sandwich with cheese, or ham (or both) is nice to bring to work. Problem with other stuff is, that it won't stay on the sandwich in my lunchbox... But I love tuna, but even more makrel...

Try peanut butter and bologna sometime. It's actually surprisingly good.

I'm not gonna say you've gone too far or anything like that, but... you said 'gut-wrenchingly awful' about pb&m and you bring this monstrous concoction out to play?

(I can see the consistency of this sandwich being quite... squishy.)
