farming?? what are people talking about

often see the term farming mentioned in threads (e.g. farming for weapons). What are they talking about? I'm pretty sure it doesnt mean planting daggers in the ground, and with a little TLC watching them grow into broadswords. So what are they referring too :confused:

not just going out to loot, but having a (usually) extensive session for the purpose of getting lots of booty. Usually people who are gold farming or item farming never leave particular areas that they know are good.
