King of the Hill in HoH..wtf? just wow..

ok.. I was just playing in a party in which we owned one of the other teams. So it was down to 1 team and our team. 1 minute left into the game, we said ok, kill the hero. We did. Guess what? We still couldn't capture altar. Why? Because some warrior and some monk was blocking the "spot" in which to capture altar. Our hero couldn't get to the spot.

Kind of gay if you think about it. They had like several players all cramped up in the middle and because of that, we lost the game even when our opponent's hero dead.

While it's sill kinda silly that a ghost can be body-blocked, it still adds in a bit of strategy and quick thinking dimension on the defender side of the altar along with body-blocking the other hero when the holders' hero is down and two heroes race to take the altar first.

IMO you simply attacked the altar too late. With more time you could have killed the monk and the warrior too.

Actually I kinda like it, if teams use this strategy it discourages rushing in at the last minute to try and capture it. While in your case it wasn't what happened as you killed the other team, lots of times teams will just sit their till the last min then rush so yeah helps discourage that somewhat.

I wish that King of the Hill modes would switch to TRUE KotH modes where you actually win by holding the Hill for the longest. That way we would see some interesting battles instead of boring wait games and 2v1's.

Thanks, I actually discussed this quite in depth on an episode of my MMORPG radio show, Weapon of Choice (LINK), and most people agreed that it should indeed be determined by the amount of time you hold the middle area.

I think there is very little room to argue that this wouldn't make the gametype much more appealing and fun for those playing.

yes a lot of teams tend to wait and attack the hill way too late and pay for it. i've had it happened to me quite a few times.

Its your choice whether you wait till the end or don't. You have the same opportuninties as any other team, just whether or not you choose to use them. I've seen plently of healing ball teams hold the altars extremely effectively, and I've seen plenty of Death Necro, Epidimec, and Spike teams take it extremely effectively.
