Good/fun character to start with

I'm getting my copy in about 2 hours, just wondering what would be good to start with.. I've had a look around the forums and most people are saying warrior/monk.. My friend has tryed this and said this build is as boring as bat ****

Any recommendations? I'm more of an offensive person than defense.. i.e. I'd rather low life and high dmg than high life and low dmg

Ohhh, then you should definitely try an Elementalist and specialize in Fire magic. High AoE and PBAoE damage, low armor, and excellent hair options.

That class works particularly well in PvE, and is a pretty straightforward class to start off with. Good luck with the gaming!

Monk as secondary sounds nice to me ^^

I took monk as secondary for my Elem... The advantage being you almost always find a party (even if you aren't in a guild...)

Yet given the fact you want something more aggresive you could try a Nec...
