There was a thread the other day about people trying to sell ingame the "secret" to ascii characters. Hahnsoo said that he would write a FAQ... but I'm not sure if he did. :p

Anyway, you can do everything with ascii. :happy34:

American Standard Code for Information Interchange ... or something like that. It's a standard developed w-a-y back in the day to store letters, text, and some symbols in the same way on each computer so things aren't translated from one brand of personal computer to another. An "A" on a Dell is an "A" on an HP for example. It's been outdated by Unicode, which is ASCII on steroids. It has more character codes for non-English alphabets, if I remember right.

I don't think GW is using Unicode, at least the chat system, cause I can use norwegian characters like æ, ø and å...

Unicode encompasses nearly all written languages, in electronic form. I'm not sure GW is using Unicode, but it makes sense considering you can read Korean text (part of Unicode).

So far, from my testing, it appears that EUC-KR and UHC encoding (two ways of encoding Korean texts) work, although there are several characters missing (mostly the usual "invalid" ones from the Extended ASCII set). I'm pursuing the matter further.
