Most players are idiots. They don't understand anything outside monk, warrior, and ele. They look at a necro or mesmer and think "He can't tank, he can't heal, and he can't nuke, he can't do anything then!" These players don't have the eyes to spot the intracasies of the necro and mesmer. They never see the interrupts and curses. The warrior just thinks that mob you nailed with shadow of fear and enfeebling blood is doing so little damage because he has "godly armor and shield!" Just do the missions with henchmen, they are better than most players anyway. As for PvE the demand for necros and mesmers is there, but for very specific builds.

Not getting into PUGs has nothing to do with Nec/Me, just Nec. Let's be honest, for most missions and quests 2 Ele, 2 Healer (Monk), 2 Warrior (later 2 more of any of these) can do it. Necro, Ranger and Mesmer can make a group function much more efficiently, do bring skills to a group that are exceptionally useful BUT...

Far to many bad players in the game from all professions. How many bad Nec/War does it take to turn anyone off to a Necro? Just yesterday a group was skill capping in Snake Dance, there were 3 Necros in the group, one was mine. I always play in group mode, but....these other two Necros were just all over themselves to see who could exploit corpses first, regardless of what the group needed. There were Wells of Suffering!!! for ONE Griffon....I mean....c'mon... There I was with 16 Blood and Well of Blood and couldn't lay one down for the melee cause of the other two beating each other up to exploit corpses....so I said my good byes after the second fight.

A good Necro/Mesmer/Ranger is gold, a bad one blows it for everyone else. Most players deal with a bad Warrior....once on the Dunes mission we had one very bad warrior...everyone agreed he would get no more healing, he could use Heal Signet, this was because he would just charge off blindly attacking things that should be left alone....he eventually got the point.

I have a N/Me that uses mainly curses and feel that people only want Minion or blood (recharge necros). They really get stuck in a rut (read too many forums!!) because they do not know how useful Curses are. I have been on a 2-man smite run with an Invinci-monk and I am the AoE skill thrower. How? Suffering, Arcane Echo and Feast of Corruption. I also throw in Mark of Pain and Enfeebling Blood for fun. For my health regen - Parasitic Bond works great and it has a quick turn around time.

The ironic thing is that a necro can probably heal as well as alot of monks, and deal dps faster than an elementalist. While a necro won't survive focus fire by anything other then mesmers (PvE mesmer mobs can't really do anything except Wastrel's worry and conjure phantasm as long as you don't attack or cast), nobody else will either. With well of blood and well of power up at 16 blood magic, thats 14 pips of health regen, already 10 with backup as well. Providing people bring their self healing skills, 10 pips of regen are usually enough to keep people alive, as long as they stay in the radius of the wells, and if i'm the only necro in the group, i tend to lay wells everywhere, i mean... why not? Theres no corpse competition. As for dps, there are several comboes that can deal wicked damage that ignores armor. Some more popular ones being Spiteful spirit/mark of pain, Dark aura/Touch of Agony, and Summon bone minion/poison nova/taste of death.

Think of it this way ANYONE who turns down a necro as a team for either PvP or PvE doesnt deserve the might that only a necromancer can bring...I personally beilive a necro can spike better then any elemental considering everything is strong vrs this element and weak vrs that.... a necro however will always deal what the skill says. IMO the Necromancer is the only class that doesnt have a useless style...Curses,Blood, and even death all have spells to help the whole team and not just boost themselves....Thats what i think about the ranger as well a ranger is great but most of the skills are geared towards self gain rather then making that snot-nosed monk recharge faster or that over zealous warrior tank any better. Yes fear my rage towards the idiots that deny necromancy!

Yeah I don't think N/Me's get any more disrespect than your typical Necro. This issue seems to come up a lot here, but let's face it, a lot of the people who even bother with these forums are dedicated to the game and knowledgeable enough to know the value of each profession. We're just kind of spinning our wheels in ranting on the enormous amount of pug noobs, who will never read this. Best thing you can do, is take your Necro out there and own it up. Only way these people will learn is if they see a Necro dominating. I can't tell you how many times I've bailed out hapless FoW teams out by dispatching the last guy while my entire team was napping on the ground. Does it serve any greater purpose in the end? Who knows. Alls I know is I've played with a lot of terrible Necro's too, which doesn't help matters at all.

A large part of the problem as well is that a lot of team builds only have room for one Necro/Mesmer/Ranger. 6 man team you've got 5 slots taken with monk(s)/tank(s)/ele(s). Doesn't make much room for all the Necro's around. To be honest, I don't even like to party with another Necro unless I know him/her. Wasting of corpses in difficult areas seems senseless to me. WoP with 18 (16+2) blood is a good way to earn the appreciation of your team.

I have 3 chars. a Mo/Me a Me/Mo and a N/E... 2 of the chars NEVER get invites... The other one... I never stop getting invites... Take a guess which one that is.

I think the problem is, the new players dont really see what the mesmers and necros are doing in the background. they just see fire raining down... warriors swinging swords and monks filling their energy bars. Im sick of seeing... Group looking for Healers/Nukers/Tanks being spammed in outposts If you ask me Mesmers Rangers and Necros are always welcomed in my groups.

I love my necro personally. I consider them to be the rangers of spell casting. I think the main reason a lot of people get turned off to necro however, is the lack of a primary attribute. Don't get me wrong, soul reaping is awsome in its own right, but only for PvE. The other players tend to see this flaw and condemn the class as a whole immediatley thereafter, and honestly I can't blame them for this mistake. By all rights, necros do have a disadvantage as far as advantages to go primary. Elementalists get more mana, mesmers cast faster, warriors do more damage, rangers cost less energy to cast, and monks dish out more healing. Necros simply lost in this respect, and I do wish something would be done about soul reaping to make it more useful for both PvE AND PvP. That said, our spells can rock the living beejezus out of anyone unfortunate enough to catch our attention.
