I'm thinking about trying out a PvP Anti-Caster Water/Me build, and, thus far, I think I have the fundamentals down... but other than that, I honestly don't know. The build focuses on Caster total lockdown with possible support in Ward Again Harm, not the single-target that the Mesmer specializes in... So I'm thinking about something like this.
Deep Freeze
Ice Spikes
Arcane Echo
Maelstrom
Glyph of Energy/Ward Again Harm/Water Trident (???)
Rust
Water Attunement
Ressurection Signet(?)
Wondering if it's possible to Arcane Echo Maelstrom, and use the combination of Deep Freeze and Ice Spikes to keep my foes locked down inside of the chained Maelstroms. I'm not the biggest fan of having both of those, but I need the AoE slows to maintain my Maelstrom lockdown.
As you can see, I don't know what to take as my Elite power. The build obviously has energy issues, and the spam-casting of Maelstrom will cause multiple instances of Exhaustion to work around if I don't bring in Glyph of Energy. Water Trident might be nice for keeping the Healer locked down inside the Maelstrom, but I'm hoping the slow will do that for me.
On the flip side, since I have nothing else to offer a team besides Anti-Caster support, it might be best to bring Ward Against Harm, to allow myself a slighly more variable play style.
Anyone got anything to comment on this?

With all those high cost spells I would say glyph of energy, ward would only be worth bringing if you had a ranger on your team that brought Greater Conflag ... but that's 2 elites just to help with damage against physical and if the other team drops winter then it's waste of 2 elites. Water Trident owns warriors especially since they just chase soft targets around all day, they would get very annoyed with you very fast and you will probably become the next called target :)
With the expection of malestrom water seems better suited to take down/annoy warriors IMO. Then again slowing enemy casters would make them easy targets for you teams warriors ...
