    How low can YOU go???

Is it possible for Energy to drop below zero? If yes, is there a limit to how far below 0 it will drop?
I'm asking as I swapped from my +30 energy weapon set to my normal one (4 regen) in pvp, and my energy stayed at 0 for ages. I had 4 regen pips, so I'm sure nobody was hexing me, although I suppose it's possible a mesmer was stealing it without me noticing...

The ONLY way to get your energy below zero is to do it yourself with weapon set switches. Mesmer spells can only steal available energy (above zero). What you're experiencing is the game adusting to your changed energy pool. If you once had 50 max energy, used all of it, switch off-hands and now have 35, you still just used up 50 energy. So you're technically left with -15 that must come from regen.

That's what I figured: so really switching to the higher energy/lower regen weapon set should be a last resort I guess...

I use it a lot actually...
Agains energy drainers, or when i ran out of energy, or when i have a lot of exhaustion etc.

It is also useful when you just have revived, and your energy is only 15 or so, and you need to cast a few spells. Don't forget to switch each time to get that extra pip of regen ;)

Example of negative energy: (ignore regen for simplification)
I have 2 weapon sets, one gives 26 (Set A), the other 41 (Set B).
At any given time, your 'energy bar' is measuring the DECREASE from max.

    Say I start with set A and spend 25 pts down to 1. Now I switch to B. I will have 41 - 25 = 16.

Now I spend more, down to 0, so I've spent 41 pts. Then I switch back to A. Now I'm at 26 - 41 = -15!. (It shows 0, but it stays there a looong time.)

This reminds me of an energy bug from a bit ago. I haven't tested for it lately so that patch may have fixed it, but it goes like this

have +12 energy focus, use mantra of recall, use up all energy

Switch out focus so that you are at -12.

Mantra of recall activates, your energy bar shows 27 or whatever energy, but you only have 15 to use (i.e. you try to use a balthazar's aura and "you don't have enough energy"). This happened many times, and I wonder if it has been fixed yet.
