We call them Fries generally. Although they are referred to as Chips quite often too. Especially when you're talking Fish n Chips or Chicken n Chips.

Putting sugar on them I hadn't thought of....have to try that! Sounds good!

American style ranch salad with salad dressing, with fried Italian Pancetta diced and Mature cheddar with crushed peppercorn diced and garlic croutons

Nothing drives your blood pressure up like a hungarian classic "Zsíroskenyér", a slice of toast with an ample amount of lard spread on it, with an ample amount of paprika, heated slightly to melt the lard. Tastes amazing, but you can litterally feel your arties hardening with each bite.

btw you don't dip all the fries at once, you dip each frie (sp?) before eating
