I want a corn dog. And some mustard with it. And a slurpee.

Curses~! I just realized that I never got around to getting my annual hit of cotton candy.
Hmm, mayhaps my next dental appointment will go over better.
So hey, remember a while ago I posted a vid of me doing a song that no one heard of before? Well I just recorded a cover of Jonathan Coulton's Skullcrusher Mountain and wanted to post it here because.. uh. I have no other friends? (Ok, not really.) I just think I did an okay job on it (aside from the parts I messed up and it being a bit too high for my voice) but I figured I should post a song that other people might actually know.
So uh. Without further rambling, here you go. o_O.
That was quite a nice song Shawn. And I actually thought you sang the higher parts a lot better than the lower ones.
Johnathan Coulton is almost like god. I love him so much.
You did a pretty good job. Just try to fight the temptation to let your voice vibrate/twang. I know I tend to do it too much sometimes. Unless you want to be country... Then all the more power to ya.

Yeah, that's the hard part, as here's the kind of music I was raised on. And actually still am around (and play) that music, such as the aforementioned music festival they're having just down the road this weekend. It's why I have a Martin guitar and an upright bass. ;p
That said, and I know I've mentioned it before, but my preferred music is stuff like progressive metal à la Dream Theater (with their orchestra, ohbaby!), and death metal like Opeth and Nile. I'm just messing around for now though - I mean that vid was done with something like 20-30 mins practice, I'm sure if I had more time when I'm home I could do better, but for now it's only so long before someone tells me to shut the **** up, so I know it's pretty rough, lol.
I can totally sympathize, shawn. I always let my voice vibrate a bit too much. But once I've warmed up... like an hour or so if I can stand it, then it's not too bad. Been a while since I sang for extended periods of time, though. Used to do a lot of choir and small solos in those choir periods, but now it's limited to Rock Band 2![]()

I appreciate Nile's fascination with Egyptian mythology, but their songs also seem to come up on the shuffle during Sunday morning breakfast. They're not necessarily the best band to listen to first thing in the morning.
I'll try to remember to listen to your song when I get home. Is it as good as those ukelele covers of "Still Alive?"
I'm tempted to get a console [other than my DS] just due to Rock Band, but for now it's a good excuse to visit my friends and mooch off their Playstation. >_>
Early morning Nile should at least wake you up pretty well, if nothing else.Originally Posted by xianli
Also, I'm not one to strum my own ukelele.. mostly on account of not having one.. (though I may be getting a mandolin soon!) so you'll have to judge for yourself.
