    Skill of the Day 8-04-05 - Conjure's

Like last Monday, today we have not a series of skills in various lines, that all have identical effects, the only difference being the element in question. Today we'll be looking at the Conjure's, a Series of enchantments that buff damage when used with an appropriate elemental weapon.

Conjure { Lightning, Flame, Frost} - Enchantment Spell
    {Air, Fire, Water} Magic
    10 Energy
    1 Second Cast
    60 Second Recharge

Lose all "Enchantments". For 60 seconds, if you're wielding a {Lightning, Fire, Cold} weapon, your attacks strike for an additional 1-13 (17) {Lightning, Fire, Cold} damage.

For 10 energy, you gain an additional damage boost on every attack in the next minute, provided you wield a weapon of the appropriate element. Sounds like a pretty good deal, but i'd say that it's not really great for most elementalists. This is one of those skills that is OK for an elementalist, but really shines when you play to your other class, most notably if it's warrior or ranger.

As an elementalist, ideally, you'll be casting a fair amount. Which leaves little time for attacking. And if you're a utility build, you'd want your damage to be on the spot, not needed to be prepared ahead of time. The conjure's are really only good if you're attacking more often than anything else. Enter the /E.

As many people have seen, Rangers can do significant damage with conjure's on their side, allowing them to deal some serious damage in short periods of time. This is even seen in the Fireslinger premade pvp build. And a warrior would be striking for an extra 10 damage or so every attack, which adds up fairly quickly.

Make sure to use it before any other buff enchantments though. it strips all of your prior enchants, so watch out.

better than flare, ice spear, lighting strike IMO, every wand attack is about 2/3 of the spell, saves alot energy, my water build has all the long recharging spells, i find myself doing alot attacking when recharging, so this is really useful

actually i never use flare, spear, strikes... i just think they are a waste, i dont use ether renewal so doesnt really matter

I guess it's because Earth is more defensive and therefore have Armor of Earth instead.

Maybe they just couldn't come up with a decent name for it. What would they call it?

    Conjure Dirt?
Scott the Green, W/X | Scott the Happy, N/R,Me | Scott the Inept, Me/X | Scott the Farseeing, Rt/N,E | Scott the Hurt, Mo/A
Scott the Physical, E/Me | Scott the Clumsy, A/E | Scott the Pacifist, D/Mo | Scott the Aimless, R/P | Scott the Quiet, P/N
Scott the Burdened, mule | Sorka Nordentaller, female mesmer who doesn't match the naming scheme

I think they don't want to give an Earth Conjure because it will be way too powerful on a Warrior/Ranger, especially Ranger.

Can you imagine if you have both Armor of Earth and Conjure Earth on? A ranger can probably maintain the energy cost and do good damage and great defense boost. A Ranger probably doesn't mind that Speed Reduction that much.

By the way, can you reduce the damage of Conjure? You can't right? If it says it adds +13, it adds 13. You can't resist it right? Even with Warrior's reduction rune/armor?

By the way, it says you'll lose all enchantment, does it mean that you can cast it FIRST and then add enchantments later to cover it? There are more monsters stripping enchantments now and it really sucks if Conjure gets stripped...you gotta wait for 60s to recharge. :(

I seem to remember it being affected by armour.

    Yes. Always cast it first.

I have a question though: if you have greater conflagration, does conjure flame work on it (with a physical damage weapon)? Similarily, for an elemental damage weapon, converted to cold with winter, would conjure frost work on it?
