I was in a group gathering for FoW and we were up to 7 people. While we were asking for a ranger or mesmer to stuff the caster enemies a Mo/W invites himself to the group, and the leader accecpts. We will call him X for this post. He never says a word
Then suddenly we were in UW, and someone other than X says something about going to the wrong statue. My response is that I will stay here, but I will not be paying my share of the entry fee since the leader got it wrong (there was only person in the group that actually cared which to go to, they stayed as well).
After me and one other tell the others not to talk to any ghosts, X goes and talks to the ghost and we die horribly. While I was watching X to see what he does, I notice him using protective sprirt, so I'm guessing he is using an I-Monk build. He dies shortly afterwards. Since we were then kicked from UW, I start demanding that X be kicked since a soloing build will not help the group.
Then we are suddenly back in UW, so we all realise that X is the one that paid both times for UW. This time X doesn't summon the graspers, but we die again to the aataxes because someone aggroed them (I dont know who, I guess X). This time X starts fighting the aataxes and winning, so the others realise what happened. After some yelling at him over the team chat, and someone saying they will get X banned we all agree to meet back in ToA, and left.
All up, this wasted maybe 5 minutes of our time, so I doubt it was an attempt to grief us. What I can't figure out is what X was planning to do, and why he pulled us along (a group advertising that we were doing FoW) to do it. Does anyone have any ideas about it ?

So basically you are cannon fodder for the Invincimonk.
Nice, isn't it ?
Apparently he wasn't successful with you :). Since he talked to the ghost this is probably a noob abuser learning the ropes.
Well, some ppl might have their big bro to read the builds. And the little kid, 10/11 years old gonna try it. And ofcourse have trouble communicating/understanding. :(
I've heard rumors that this is to get better drops. The rumor is something about a full party getting better drops than a solo or even a small party (2/3/4 man) so an I-monk will grab a full party, go into the UW, and everyone else will die/leave and the I-monk will have better drops down there. Don't know if this has any truth to it, but that doesn't mean some people won't believe it anyway.

Perhaps, I've had it happen a few times for UW runs, and the most common sypmtom is the abuser doesn't say one word. Not only that but after we killed the first group and ecto drops for me, but a few of use died (hmm, gee, who aggroed that second group???) including myself. Of course our dear little monk refuses to res, and goes and gets the rest of the group killed by drawing Aatxes to them, at the same time of course he is waiting for my Ecto to lose assignment so he can take, our Ranger/Mo was about to res us when the abuser brought a second mob along to finish us off.
It's rediculous actually.
He obviously didn't do too well, cause after leaving back for ToA, not before long he pops up in another group I was in, thankfully the leader took my advice when I whispered him about this guy.
I take it I'm not allowed to post IGNs here, but this guys was a real doos.
report the guy, and imo Anet should just delete their monk, this will stop them repeating offence if they get a tempory ban, but will not require a permenent ban, and the guy who lost an ecto off one of these (no polite way of putting it), bl mate, i hope the best luck for your future gaming in GW
If he had asked I would of tagged along and let him have my drops just to watch an I-monk in action to learn how to run one myself.
"I-monk LF 7 people to drop out just after I enter UW, I'll pay full fee"
I never do or have done UW, FoW, or SF with pugs. I always take trusted guild members and friends with me. Although I have not been to FoW as of yet even though I have played since May. The basic downside to pugs perhaps more so when highly desired items are at stake is to get or end up with someone in the group willing to ruin the game for everyone else to get what they want. I'm glad to hear it wasn't a horrible loss like spending an hour or more to be griefed by someone at that point or or the 1st ecto drops and someone gets the whole team killed but themselves to streal the ecto.
Considering the fact that the mo/w invited self and was accepted and was the one causing the team to be entered into UW by paying maybe a solution is to only allow the person at the top of the list to pay enter fee. If a team wants to split the cost still then nothing changes. But if it is 1 person paying for all then the only thing to change would be either trading the gold for the fee or changing the group order for the person paying to be at the top. Of course like any other area someone could end up in a group and not say anything and then once in the area in this case UW or FoW drop from the group cause they want to do the other area. One of the downsides to blindly inviting and accepting blind self invites.
Checking with someone before inviting or accepting a join request is probably the best way to avoid some problems of puging.
