My pet seems to be stuck at lvl 12, my PC in now lvl 14. How do I get my pet to lvl up. Also, can I re-name my pet?
Dunno about the level, but you should be able to rename your pet with /namepet (name) or /petname (name). I've heard both work but haven't tried either yet.Originally Posted by Myron Avery

Pets progress similar to their Rangers. If you are fighting monsters that are below the pets' level, the pet will not gain experience.
And, yes, I can confirm Clemine's comment about /petname (name) working. I use it all the time! Br. Caedfel's pet changes names depending on what enemies he's currently snacking on. :)

The pet gains XP in the same rate as you do, giving more or less XP as you would get against higher or lower level enemy's. The reason why your pet is at a lower level than you is because it does not get the xp from quest rewards you get in towns.
After naming your pet, if at any time you wish to see its evolution (e.g. playful, hearty, aggressive, dire) you can use: /petname to reset the name. And then name it again as per what Philem has said.
Only lvl 7's and above will give you pet XP now. Here's how it works. Left side is the lvl of monsters you kill....right side is the level you stop getting xp from said lvl of monster.

Your pet will gain xp regardless of what level you are. If your pet dies it will gain xp AND level while dead as long as it is in the area, but, repeating what Odharith said: Your pet gets no xp for complete quests.
