Angry GW Support: Dont send us bugs, we cant do anything about it.

So, my guild and I got annoyed with some of the bugs that have appeared recently in the game, so despite waiting and waiting to fix it we thought we would post the bug to GWs support (knowing this wouldn't do anything as tech support general is a waste of money).

So we posted the bug and soon got a reply asking for generic Internet info, we knew it wasn't net related but client related, but we gave them the information they asked for and begged them to send the bug through to AN to get the issue fixed.

Next day, they asked for a dump of our direct x information logs, once again this would teach them nothing, all they needed to do was tell Arena net so the bug could be fixed, but we gave them the information, then we waited.

Next day, by now we were expecting the comedy styling of GW support and indeed it was amusing. Not only did they tell us to defrag our machines, but told us to setup our swap in a slower manner than we had originally.

By now we were pissed off, the faction preview event was quickly moving forward and all we wanted was the bug fixed. Now, please note we understand many support places do these checks to make sure its not an issue at your end, but in our case as we said many times to the support people, this was guild wide ranging from high end to low end. 1700+ to 2XDualCore Althons, ATI 9000 to x2 SLI 7800s. All with the same issue.

We sent our final reply to them, and today we got their reply:
"We don't have access to change the game in any way. If you feel that this 'pause' is just a problem in the game, please post your feedback on some public forums. The Guild Wars developers definitely scour the forums very closely for feedback. This is the best way to report directly to them."

To say we were shocked is an understatement, we posted a bug report to support as AN constantly insists we do, in the proper format, and stated it was a bug in the form and in the various communications and they tell us, well.... we cant do anything with bugs.

So AN, what do you want us to do with bugs? Post them here and hope you see them before a mod closes or deletes the thread? Send you a postcard? Use smoke signals? Semaphore?

If you have problems with graphic cards, sound etc. try to visit the GWO "Tech Forum". In many cases somebody will post a good solution or explanation to your problem there.

If you find an in-game bug (like a skill not working)....

    1. Try to reproduce the bug (some things can't be reproduced and are one time only occurences - most of the time client/server lags)

    2. If the bug is still there, read my "sticky" Summary of Bugs & Flaws (known bugs are posted there)

    3. Make a new thread for general "bug discussion" and wait for answers from the community

    4. If you do not get an explanation for the bug, report it to ANet.

Since GWO is an Elite-Fansite, ANet staff will browse through the pages and will notice bugs (Gaile said they really do!)

You could be surprised how many bugs could be taken of the list of known bugs after major updates!

Just curious - what bug are you actually talking about? By their response using the word "pause" the only thing I can think of is the extremely annoying pause/freeze that occurs during PvP character creation after they added the new, but locked, classes and skills.

But their response is very disappointing... why even have a support if they can't sent bugs to the appropriate places? Maybe the police should find out about vandalism/drunk driving/murders/etc in the crime section of the local newspaper too...

If many people are reporting the same bugs, even though they cannot change them, they should know the right people to send the reports to. Hey, make forums responsible for banning and a few other issues and they can shut down support altogether!
