Hi. I'm new at this. I just finished pre-searing and in post searing.
I'm Ranger/Necro. I love the Ranger class, but really don't like Nerco... I don't use any of the Necro skills, they either suck or use to much Energy. Necro's suck.
I was thinking of going Ranger/Warrior (to get Sprint and maybe other warrior skills are useful to rangers?) or maybe Ranger/Monk (to self heal, but Troll Urgent works really good for me at the moment).
Is there anyway to drop necro class post-searing or do I have to re-create?
My play style is that I like to hit hard and fast from a distance (winds spell or iginate arrow + power shot + duel shot + point blank + something else)... What would help me lay down more damage with my bow? Warrior? I hope I get some running skills soon.... I like to run, hit hard and fast then back away. I'm not good at tanking mobs.
I also got a cat. I have some BM in me. I got necro cause they had bone summons (from corpse) but they cost to much engery, don't do much damage and don't last long.
Any suggestions? I like to save my engery for Bow skills (power shot, etc) so don't want to go Necro, memorize, etc cause they just suck engery.
If you're planning to go pure damage, I would suggest restarting as a R/E.
Later in the game you will get running skills for Ranger such as Storm Chaser and Dodge

don't Elemists suck up engery like crazy? What benifit could they give to rangers?
Would it be better to go Warrior/Ranger and use a bow (for higher AL) ?

Personally, I see nothing wrong with being a pure Ranger. I've had several secondary classes but I wind up using none of the attributes because I can do everything I need to do and I don't have to spread out my points. Especially when I take my pet. Currently I'm R/Mo and carry Rebirth when I need to. No points needed!

You're not gona use any offensive spell =P one is enough!Originally Posted by Budec
Conjure Flame adds damage if you're doing fire damage, @ 10 Fire Magic it does 11 more fire damage
Kindle Arrow adds another 17 fire damage AND turns all your damage into fire, which triggers Conjure Flame.
soo..
put those two skills with Dual Shot and you'll be hitting just as hard if not HARDER than a warrior using Executioner Strike

You can change your class after you have finished the Dragon's Lair mission if you really want, but that's awhile away.
Necro can be very good if you work it right. You might not have all the skills available to you yet however. Barbs is one that come up and Mark of Pain as well if you used the curses Attribute.
Points in Expertise can reduce the amount of energy needed to use ranger skills, which can free of your energy.
I've used an R/E since the betas, and I've loved it the whole time myself. The conjures or a lightning/Glimmering Mark combo.
Take a look at all the skills for R and N and if you really don't think you can make a build you like with it, switch or just go pure R.
With a W/R, you'll not be able to put points in Expertise to lower the energy cost of using attack skills, preparations, or traps.Originally Posted by Budec
You'll be able to change your secondary profession, but that is a long way away. If you don't think you can play 80%+ of the game as a Necro second, then either recreate or be a pure Ranger like others have said.
If you do give Necro a chance, you may find some useful spells, with Curses being the best bet. Barbs, Mark of Pain, or Weaken Armor to deal more damage. Enfeeble, Enfeebling Blood, Faintheartedness, or Shadow of Fear will allow you to tank more.
