What in the world is going on?

I have been playing this game since September and frankly over the past month I have become very disturbed with things I see.

Just 5 minutes ago I was in TOA District #1. Just signed on to see who had favor. I was so shocked that I couldnt move for about 5 minutes. I watched as post after post from numerous (I counted it was 12) people where verbally abusing each other. Now I dont meen like calling someon a noob or saying they stick as a player but calling them F...... Americans and then same for Canadians. I watched as both discrimanatory insults & curses where thrown back and forth between these people (btw. Canada & America where not the only countries involved it also included insults to China, Japan, Australia & Europe).

I did take screenshots which I have forwarded to ANET, but everyday this is getting worse. Frankly I am so disgusted today that after I post this I am shutting off my computer and doing something else.

I dont want to hear from anyone concerning setting my filters. The point is I should only need to block out the unwanted LFG & WTS and shouldnt have to worry about the cursing & berating that I see. I have also reported numerous people who have went beyond good taste with the language.

GW is a free online game we get to play after the initial cost. I understand that ANET is doing what they can while trying to keep the cost down, but does anything really get done?

I know that sometimes a char is banned for a questionable name, but instead of things getting better it is worse. Does anyone really know what happens to someone who is caught cursing & making these ethnic comments? I do know that someone that I reported for cusing is still playing, so this tells me that nothing is being done. In fact this person I met up with in the same town and that person was still cursing at anyone who would not side with them. So does reporting them really work?

I know that ANET does not want to lose any of its customers, but they really need to look at baning entire accounts. Maybe if these people find out that they need to keep shelling out $50.00 each time they want to get on line and curse they might give up.

ANET, if you are listening take this statement to heart: You are looking at losing good, honest & decent people who are getting fed up with the garbage that is being said in the districts! I can go play other games that I DO NOT have to listen to this trash instead of your game. Start taking more firm steps PLEASE!

For those who read this take you for listening to my rant. I know that ANET can not be everywhere at once and they can not check everyline of recorded talk, but something needs done. The debate over what GW:F will be and if the elite mission will be available is not an issue to me compared to this.

ive seen about 30 people selling gw accounts ingame adn 30 are scamming its an old dumb scam where u give the money they laugh and u cant report them cause by giving the money u broke the eule

You just have to keep reporting them. If you look though the official site, there are links there to what behavior is actually "inappropriate" and there is also places that tell you what actions will be taken.

It seems it starts w/"marks" against and account. As those build up, then susspensions are added. They get longer and more severe as they add up. Then, eventually banning. This is to protect people...as you can imaigine, everyone can make mistakes...even the intentional kind. So, if the people that care about the game enviornment, are aware of the rules of conduct and actually report inapropriate behavior, then those doing the inapropriate behavior should start getting slaps on the wrist. (and of course we have to trust Anet will not mark/susspend/ban people w/out investigating)

I have also mentioned this in several of my posts. The verbal abuse, discrimination, racism, is far worse of late in GW than previously, and far worse than in any other game I have played thus far. GW has become a curseing, racial battleground in just about any town, outpost and dist other than International , (I have not ran into this in the Internation dist ). If you will also note it is far worse during spring break, weekends and now summer is comeing so end of school year. I know some awesome adolescents, so not a prejudice there, but honestly do not find many mature people useing stfu , the f word in various forms, sex chat and the imature racial slurs, am sure there are some adults (will use that word loosely) that participate in this, this world is full of bad attitude and behaviour that is not age resticted, just moral resticted. And I also have issued complaints , ss etc for vile, explicit language, racial slurs etc. seen most of those still online still spouting filth! I would rather pay to play and have mods that can handle this type of behavior readily availabe, than to play for free and be sujected to it. I do not know if that is a big contributing factor in GW, but imho it is. Buy the game it is full time babysitter, companin , call it what you will. and behind a keyborad an adolescent or abuseive person can e 10 feel tall and bullet proof, and have an unlimeted number of people to abuse. Banning , definately would help, as how many times is someone going to lay out the 50 dolars to enable this behavior? Mod control, definately, where they can intervene right away and suspend/ban. I am with you, do not want to hear this trash when I log on and there is enough hate in this world without dealing with it in a game.

I know what you mean, I do not usually pay attention to chat but sometimes things attract ones attention.
The other day I was in town and someone was bashing someone else's mother so I typed

I did and also got a couple of pms saying that they did the same.

We will never change those kinds of people. But sometimes I try to lessen the problem by pointing out the following...which has sometimes actually HELPED!

If you think about the odds involved and what times the most PVP players will be on from each country, you will see that FAVOR follows the SUN around the globe. Invariably, EACH region (America, Europe, Korea, Japan, etc.) WILL get it's turn with favor simply because they have the most active PVP players taking on HoH at a given time of day.

So, statistically speaking, it is almost impossible to have favor for 24 hours. If you are one of those players who gets pissed just because someone else has it and you cant go UW to farm your ECTOs, GET OVER IT. Think back to kindergarten when you had to LEARN TO SHARE. OR better yet, go FIGHT in the HoH and try to GAIN favor for your region!

Collectivly, we can be part of the problem or part of the solution. Nuff said.

That's not true, but it seems that way because those rude/immature/racist individuals make themselves heard whenever they can. They do not put second though into posting whatever spews forth from their petty minds while the majority of us do think about what we type/say. I can think of more than once I've typed something into my chat bar only to reread what I was typing and deleting it because it was unnecessary/inappropriate. Now these were not racist things, but responses to such people making those remarks. I keep local chat turned off anymore which is sad because you can't strike up conversation with good people, but is necessary. I've reported quite a few people for very abusive language before. I've since stopped as I realize it either doesn't matter at all to Anet (contrary to what Gaile says) or they are under-manned in the support field. I assume is more of the latter, but I'm quite sure that language is a very minor issue with them.

The racial comments are so rampant in GW not only because of anonymity and lack of ingame mods, but because they have us pitted against one another to gain access to parts of the game. Heck, look at some of these threads popping up for Factions - there are already personal insults being thrown randomly at people just for being in favor of one faction over another.

PS - It's also spring break I think. So all the little foul mouthed bad@$$ wannabee kiddies are on. : P NOT that they are ALL the same, but that probably accounts for the added level of immaturity. To be fair, I play with several teens who are NOT like that at all, so I hope I'm not coming across as stereotyping them all in the same class. It's just another law of averages that, along with increased numbers of good, the bad will also be on.
