I will not be able to justify an expense of almsot $100 for both the original GW and Factions, so I think I will just buy Factions, for now... But I am a little worried.
Aside from Guild Wars Original land mass (+items +storyline), what will you miss if you only play Factions?
I was wondering how the missing conent from the original GW will be handled in Factions. For exemple, I understand that you gain some skills by completing quests in Guild Wars. If you do not own the original GW but only Factions, How are you going to earn the old skills? Did they create new quest with the exact same rewards for Factions only players?
In other words, and if you would only buy one of the two games, would there be any reason for anyone to only buy the original Guild Wars instead of Factions? Faction has a land mass (smaller but more dense, I heard), it has quests, it's got NPCs, it's got the same PVP and guild systems only enhanced, same classes and skills plus more...
Anyway... I was just wondering if you guys heard something I didn't.

The skills are divided that way for the core professions :
50 core skills, available in all chapters.
25 Prophecies specific skills.
25 Factions specific skills.
+
some duplicate skills which exist in both P. and F. with different names.
So with Factions only, you'll miss about 25 skills per professions, but you'll have access to 75.
And there is no reason to buy Prophecies over Factions.
Factions has overall more gameplay types than Prophecies, and have two additionnal professions. Get Prophecies later if you feel like you missed something.

Oh I didn't realize the 75 skills from Prophecies were not all included in Faction. Makes sense though.
Is there a way to know which skills from Prophecies are the 25 Prophecies-specific skills?

www.gwonline.net . Look at the professions' links. There is a description of every skills.
You might also want to look for GuildWiki in Google.
There are lists under each class only section on these forums.Originally Posted by Garulfo

Naru Soulfire
Weapon and armor skins (stats possibly), pets, all the skill points from missions,... basically content. You won't miss anything gameplay-wise, since gameplay enhancements are updated to all GW campaigns. I still recommend buying GW:P when you have the funds to do so.Originally Posted by Garulfo

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.
I also was wondering how the graphics improvement in Factions will be handled in PRophecies. Will there just be the old graphics in Prophecies and the new ones in Factions? Or will the Graphics in Prophecies be revamped?
I was wondering, if someone only owns Prophecies, how character models from Factions will be displayed on their screen when players will move from one world to the other.

Both games are the same client, so they probably use the same graphics engine. Most Prophecies players probably have all the Factions content on their PC already, probably. They started streaming it a while ago. So there shouldn't be any problems with that.
Yup, the Guild Wars client is chapter independent. You just fire up GW (Note how the icon is merely "Guild Wars", and not "Guild Wars Prophecies"), and you login with your account. Depending on what access rights your account has (governed by what keys you have/haven't added to it), it will affect what you can and cant see in Guild Wars.Originally Posted by Zooz

No Prophecies Key? Again, you just login, and see only Cantha to play in.
Factions is already 'installed' on everyones PCs; the content was streamed a while ago.
