    weapon crafter in factions

    hi all :)

this idea came up to me while i was at work today.....i saw somewhere there will be zones like fow and uw in factions...what about ANet put in these zones a weapon crafter (no armor crafter this time) ?

would be so nice....you will have to collect materials, enter these zones, battle it to the end and then you'll gain access to a weapon crafter that can craft personalized wepons for you.

lets say, as an example, a sundering cristalline of fortitude 15/50 ....instead of paying the crazy price ppl sell em (liek 100k + lot of ectos)...you go there and get it. this would even make some balancement in the economy system.

and, if ANet put a weapon crafter...the armor crafter of fow would still be in high demand..

(and, why not, make everything avalaible either at the merchants or a special crafter....)

I vote "yes" because slicing someone with an uber, glowing sword is a lot cooler than a normal slab of stone.

However, it can't be a straight weapon's purchase, because weapons DO have stats that affect gameplay. Rather, it should just upgrade the look of weapons you already have and avoid the stats route completely.

You mean elite weapon (Rare skin, max dmg, low req, and clean), right?
    sounds good :)

If they did this, whatever skin they chose would become N00b, unless the cost was on par with FoW armor.

It would be just like another green. After a month, they would be selling for little more than whatever it cost to produce.

Unless, of course, they come precustomized, like armor.

yeah, noocoo, i meant elite weapons :)))

fellblades, chaos axes, cristalline, etc, (+ all new awesome weapons of factions)...and i dont expect (of course) to see ppl already farming these weapons and selling them high price to agree with this idea :P

At first I thought this was a great idea, but the more and more I think about it... I change my mind. An item that you craft that would be "elite" like the armor in FoW means that it would still need to cost a ton of money, only it would be crafting materials + some amount of gold (as opposed to just gold/ecto while trading).

The items would still be ultra expensive.

Tozen's idea is excellent though. I love that one.

It sounds like a nice idea, but I'd be a bit wary of this new "leet" weapon skin going for ridiculous amounts of gold, much like the FFS and the HoD sword, with people using the profits from selling it to buy more materials to run to the weaponsmith, make another one, sell again for ridiculously high prices. This could eventually lead to a glut of these weapons, and making them cheap to buy (like how most green weapons are now).

Personally, I'd make the weapon autocustomized to the character that purchases it from the weaponsmith, much like how preorder and event items are. (Not a popular view, but hey, it's mine. )

I have absolutely no idea what's going on, but when I find out, I'll be more confused than ever.

I feel this is a very good idea as it would in a way balance out the economy a bit. However I feel that the requirment for the auto customization (With the 20% bonus) is a must for any weapon to prevent the runs and exploitation of this. This customization will also insure that only end games (Ascended lvl 20's) would be able to acquire the weapons. It should have a restrictive price to some degree, maybe 10-20k and require special items but not ones which will outdo the price of crafting the weapon *maybe craftable materials.
