I have been pvping some and the trend of the ritualist seems to be to make massive spirits and then sit by them. By their spirits, a team is pretty much invinible, especially with a resto ritualist and a commune ritualist. So what people do, of course, is not go in the spirits. But it has turned into waiting, time after time again. Anyone else seeing this? The only way to stop this from happening would be to give spirits the ability to move but make them weaker.
This "lock up" has already made me consider switching to a warrior for my new char...
If Arenanet decided to make spirits mobile, then HA would probably be pretty messed up.

I was playing random arena last night and ended up with or against a ritualist every match.
Most of them lasted over 5 minutes where we stood at a stand still for about 2-3 minutes before anyone attacked (I was playing a monk so I couldn't just run in).
Eventually one side would give in and the lead attacker would die making them practically lose.
It is a little annoying but I'm sure someone will come up with an anti-spirit build.
an anti spirit build would take up an entire slot though, and there wouldnt always be a ritualist on the other team
An entire slot? Oh come on ur kidding me. I can understand spirits are lock up in pve, which was exactly how i thought it would be. Doesnt matter i'll still create Rt in pve instead of As! :) But an entire slot? Pvp? Hellooo! It's pvp geez, adapt or die! I cant talk of entire pvp since i dont play all of it atm, but 4v4 is pretty much ok, just get warriors smack spirits first (they die fast from what i've seen), or get interrupt ranger on Rt (works nicely, i've done that).
If ur mesmer try Unnatural signet. There is also that other (elite i think) skill which instantly kills spirit.
Seriously, ADAPT. Or, the best way is, try MAKING ritualist. U'll see they aint that invincible. I know it can be abit of standstill... but oh well.
The Ritualist should bring Draw Spirit... they can still have the spirit effect, and be able to avoid standstill..

Well theres a handy skill that moves the spirits, the trick to this is, cast 1 to fall back on , and the rest at the clash of the warriors. Rt/mo are probably gonna be added to pvp teams as the mobile bases, wether they be an offensive or defensive one. Don't give up on the Ritualist, they are very unique and just need more time to unravel. I myself and working out the strats to the Assassin right now and cant work on the Rit at all. Well, good luck mates.
1 slot meaning 1 character slot
draw spirit only draws one at a time
a ritual lord can recast his spirits faster than you can kill them

Regardless there will still be other adaptations. Someone will come up with a good strategy. If not Anet will nerf it.Originally Posted by OmInOuS NeCrOsIs
Spirits are powerful, but they aren't invincible. They have a few very devestating weaknesses
1. Little to nor armor. I play ele primarily and the best way I've found to toast a group of spirits is to use searing heat once (which is very high damage and has a large radius.)
2. Spirits are not exclusive to teams. Unless they have been changed, there are many skills available that allow people to manipulate the spirits on the enemy team. These skills can be easily slotted in as a second profession.
3. Spirits cannot aim. Those that attack will go for the first target in range. These targets include pets and minions. Try sending in pets before you engage an enemy group.
4. The spirits came from RITUALISTS. From personal experience, I can say that Ritualist is easily the hardest profession to play from a survival standpoint and their energy can be burned off very quickly. (Due to the fact that many of their best skills require holding an item to combo them... meaning that Ritualists are often -15 energy compared to their opponents.) The best way to stop spirit spam is not a skill... it's to kill the ritualist quickly.
