Well, if you play Magic: The Gathering, you know what I'm talking about. The phoenix doesn't really look like a traditional phoenix, and the multi-colors look really, and I mean, really really reminds me of the artwork of Birds of Paradise from Magic.
Just an observation...but seriously, did someone from Wizards of the Coast do this artwork too?
the pheonix is troditional...well the fiery ball**** is just an update.
an chinese pheonix is red, blue ,yellow and green, never play'd of wizards of the coast
hmm i was wrong, the Japanese Phoenix is red.
While the chinese phoenix is..rainbowish color..
=( most of the time Phoenix is gold/red in movies
Well, I guess not too many (ex-)Magic players here. Anyway, here's a picture of the card:
You tell me if you don't see any similarities.
P.S. Picture is from www.adventureson.com, and it's copyrighted by Wizards of the Coast, and all the copyright crap...

That's because for us Westerners, gold/red is familiar. <shrugs>
That is an interesting point on the Birds of Paradise though, I hadn't made that connection at first but you're right. There is a similarity.

Magic Cards...
I always wanted to learn how to play that game. It looked so interesting....and confusing.

I have waaaay too many MTG cards collecting dust in a box under my bed....
While the colors are similar, the body design looks quite different especially in regards to the bird's tail.

PAL it up!
No trees were harmed in the sending of this message but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.
I agree only the color matches....
Brings back memories of my old magic days. Had a White, Blue and a little green control deck.......started playing during tempus and stopped around odassy(I think)...
I just got into the Dune series and finally realized where magic and gw got the idea for there beat stick worms

I do not know the English name, but it reminds me of these small parrots. :)
Well, that's just ONE of the Birds of Paradise cards. There's many, many reprints with different pictures. Some may look more or less like the GWP Phoenix.
