Well I defrag'd the hard drive and am trying to determine the best way to avoid the constant 10+ minutes of data archive rebuilding when I wish to start Guild Wars.
I'm unsure whether to just uninstall the Guild Wars files and restart from the client and reload all of the content or if I choose this option whether I will loose data required for my current characters? I believe the data is kept on the game servers but do not know what type of data is stored on the local machine that is in now a constant state of rebuilding.

I think what's stored on the local machine are things like your e-mail (if you have that ticked) and your various performance settings. They may not even go away when you uninstall. A lot of programs leave behind registry settings and the likes after uninstall, so that if you put it back on, your settings are restored.Originally Posted by Xedu
Don't worry about losing characters/items/etc.. That's all stored on the game server. This is why you can log in from any computer with GW on it and play. 8)

Thanks for deleting my post and saying exactly what I said, *****. -.-
Eh? Haven't got the foggiest idea what you're talking about, but there's no need to be slinging names.Originally Posted by KillerDreaming

Thank you very much for that information...now I don't feel so bad when I zap it off the machine and go to reload all those thousands of files..![]()
And Gamma I've no clue to what that other character is referring to either..and thanx for the info...![]()
I had posted the same thing you did, before you did, then I came back to get an update on the situation, someone had deleted my post and you'd posted in its spot, thus wasting my attempt to help, and pissing me off.
