I just use the General PvE Barrage Ranger build; straight off GuildWiki.

I find it effective in some missions, I change around when circumstances call for it.

    R/Me Feverish Archer

    Ranger/Mesmer Feverish Archer
    Lots of fun here:
    • Troll Unguent
    • Apply Poison
    • Fevered Dreams
    • Pin Down
    • Screaming Shot
    • Concussion Shot
    • Throw Dirt
    • Res Signet

    Marks 10+1+2
    Expertise 11+2
    Wilderness 9+1
    Illusion 4

Best with Rotscale's Recurve Bow or equivalent.

Make sure your target is hexed before causing any conditions and in 2 shots you can cause mass degen and cripple. You can also add in dazed and blindness as needed. Works wonders on any fleshy groups. Try it, you'll like it.

    Greater Conflagration
Create a level 1...8 Spirit. For creatures within its range, all physical damage is fire (elemental) damage instead. This Spirit dies after 30...126 seconds.

    Winter
Create a level 1...8 Spirit. For creatures within its range, all elemental damage is cold damage instead. This Spirit dies after 30...126 seconds.

    Mantra of Frost
For 30...78 seconds, whenever you take cold damage, the damage is reduced by 26...45% and you gain 2 Energy.

    Nuff said?

Enraged Lunge full BM or Bunny Chucker, depending on how I feel at the time.

    Machine-Gunner Build

Quote Originally Posted by Vallen Frostweaver View Post

Look back over the past month and, if you feel up to it, post your most commonly used Ranger build for PvE. It may be old, it may be new, it may be complete crud, but who cares, this is a thread for fun and build discussion generally. List the skills, the stats, and a short paragraph explaining it's ups, downs, and uses. If it's organized nice enough this could get a sticky and help a lot of those "I need a good ranger build" questions that always pop up (maybe even make our own 'directory' of ranger builds per-se).

My most commonly used Ranger build for PvE in the past month:
    -Troll Ungent
    -Enraged Lunge {Elite}
    -Predatory Bond
    -Call of Haste
    -Comfort Animal
    -Charm Animal
    -Rebirth/Res
-Other Beastmastery skill to benefit Enraged (Poisonous Bite, Predator's Pounce, Tigers Fury, etc.)

    Bm - 11+1+3
WS - 9+1 (to get +8 troll ungent)
Exp - 8+1 (sweet spot for 10 energy skills)
Marks - 8+1 (meet bow requirements)

Works pretty good in most situations. Uses a bow and any armor. Minion Masters tend to stop my pet from getting to the targets sometimes and I do have to res the pet due to not much in pet defense on occasion but it's a good damage build with defense for you. I usually don't use comfort unless it's a quick res or have a target almost dead. Most often I am the one still alive if things go bad as I can always res the pet for a temp target if needs be while I make a hasty retreat, then return to res the party. Alternately, you could remove the bow and marksmanship attributes and add in another profession skill (take out 'Other Beastmastery skill') and attributes for it with a staff to match for added energy and meet the staff max damage req. (of course you'd have to bring WS down one point most likely to have enough points to meet it too).

    Hi!
I know this is a bit off topic but I have a build that is pretty good. I have been using it since last years and it is still reliable and fun! It's called the Machine-Gunner Build:

    Machine Gunner Build By: nachocheese
This Build is for Rangers who like to barrage and pull fast arrow attacks simultaneously. Those people who want to be a machine-gunner should choose to fight in the back and not up front. Note: This is not similar to Snipers. Snipers do effective damage with one shot while Machine-gunner just sends out massive amounts of arrows to do damage.

    R/(Pick Profession)

    Marksmanship: 12+3+1
    Wilderness Survival: 9+1
    Beast Mastery: 6+1

    1. Barrage (Elite) (M) All your preparations are removed. Shoot arrows at up to 6 foes near your target. These arrows strike for +1-13 damage if they hit. This is an elite skill.
    2. Dual Shot (Others) Shoot two arrows simultaneously at target foe. These arrows deal 25% less damage than normal.
    3. Quickening Zephyr (WS) Create a level 1-8 Spirit. For creatures within its range, all skills recharge twice as fast as normal and cost 30% more energy to cast. This Spirit dies after 15-39 seconds.
    4. Favorable Winds (M) Create a level 1-8 Spirit. For creatures within its range, arrows move twice as fast as normal and strike for +6 damage. This Spirit dies after 30-126 seconds.
    5. Tiger’s Fury (B) All your non-attack skills are disabled for 5 seconds. For 5-10 seconds, you attack 25% faster than normal.
    6. Forked Arrow (M) Shoot two arrows simultaneously at target foe. If you are under the effects of an Enchantment or Hex, you shoot only one arrow.
    7. Pin Down (M) If Pin Down hits, your target is crippled for 3-13 seconds.
    8. Called Shot (Others) Shoot an arrow that moves 3 times faster than normal and cannot be blocked or evaded.

First You use Quickening Zephyr and Favorable winds so your shots are faster and recharges faster. Then you use Tiger's Fury so your shots are even more faster. Use Pin Down on your target and quickly use Barrage. If your target is still not dead, use Dual Shot, Forked Arrow or Called Shot repeatedly (preferably Called Shot).
