The idea behind giving different races, bonuses to certian attributes, or anything is imbalanced.

if you go down that road, you already ruin any chance of another class/race to play it.

In w0w people play their class by their race, which race is best, unless you are a noob.

so if you go down this road, you might as well just get rid of the other races abilities to play a certian class if one race does a better job, there is no point in other races using it.

    edit:

there is already a bunch of legalos rangers running around in the game, so name copies are already here.

I said yes, but where are the Keg, Pudding, or the You're not Milias options?

    Just no elves.

The hard thing about races is coming up with one that is intelligent and can travel. Also, the story would have to have a way of meshing in the different races together.

Notice your Factions character can GO to Tyria, but can't be born there.

I think that sort of thing would be alright for new races, as long as it makes sense in the chapter they make.

And, I repeat: NO ELVES. I love them in some games, but just not in this one.

elves would ruin guild wars they'd just be falling back on the stereotypical rpg classes something guild wars was trying to avoid

I think it would be too imbalanced if the races had different stats.

What about having a certain race play the 'main part' in a campaign? So instead of Cantha-skins you'd have Tengu skins. It would bring some variety to the GW world, without completely rearranging the system.

On the note about the dark elves, I am assuming you are meaning drow. If you are then maybe they should implement a story line running in the background, parellel to the original story line. Something like maybe the Charr are starting to lose the war, and need to ally themselves with more powerful beings, such as Drow. Or maybe even Centuars, the amount of raw potential in this game does give it a lot of holes in the plot line, but I think that that would be perfect to expand on multiple plot lines. Maybe even have magic itself starts to fail, chaos insues and you die in a huge battle, but really head into the past and start to change things so that the chaos that was about to happen is prevented. I don't know if that is a starter to anything dramatic, but that's what I think.
