John Dies at the End, by the way, was an amazing read all the way through. Finished it in a week. I read that they are making a movie and a second novel - I probably will not partake in either. It was just good enough as-is; movie probably won't be any good and the book will probably feel tacked on. I hate when sequels are made for money like that.
Anyway, loaded up my Kindle in preparation for my trip to Seattle tomorrow. Started Slaughterhouse 5 this morning. Only a few pages in, but I am digging it.
I'm slowly making my way through book 2 of A Song of Ice and Fire, aka A Clash of Kings. Again, the cliffhangers are awesome, just like with the first book. There's a few new characters, which always takes a while to get used to. But overall, great pacing, with great twists.
Hopefully I'll finish this before the second season of Game of Thrones comes out.

John dies at the end was awesome. Easily one of my favorite books.
For the record, the 2nd book afaik was already written and put on the web even, so it's not "just for the money" as you say. I'd be interested to reading it, but so far I have no patience for reading stuff online or on readers, so I have to wait for a print version.
As for the movie, well, it really depends on who makes it and how.

That's not entirely true. On the official site, he says that he had a story featured on the website for free, then the publisher asked him to write a second book, he took the story down, and is still writing the second book now.
I dunno, it's not that I have a problem with people doing things for money; I don't. But when creative integrity gets muddied, I lose interest. When it feels like a story was meant to end (or at least not get continued) and then it suddenly is because someone waved money around, that bugs me. I have the same issue with Clerks 2: If you've watched the deleted scenes (including commentary), you know Kevin Smith intended Dante die at the end of the movie. Then he makes a sequel. I like some of that guy's movies, but I feel like he "sold out" big time. This book will be an extension and expansion of that story. But for instance Detective Vance Falconer returns. But about 2/3 of the way through the story you know, this one veers off in a different direction.
Did you watch the trailer for the movie? It looked like they were trying to make it a horror, which is why I have little interest in it. Yeah, horror is a part of it, but the comedy is so crucial to what made the book so good. I'm not dismissing it altogether, but I have little patience for movies to start with, so my hopes aren't high.

I didn't know there was a trailer yet, thanks. I am adding that to my list of "must see".

I considered the Fire & Ice series, but I'd rather spend my limited book-time reading the real stories our species has to tell, dark and depressing as they can be.
On that note, All Hell Let Loose by Max Hastings has been a phenomenal read.
-13.50£ for the hardback is a very good offer indeed.
Edit: Oh, I should also mention China - A History by John Keay; Chinese history made accessible to a baffled Westerner like me, and a very worthy read.

Reading Slaughterhouse Five. Pretty good so far!
GUILD WARS: Ghosts of Ascalon - Matt Forbeck & Jeff Grubb
GUILD WARS: Edge of Destiny - J. Robert King
GUILD WARS: Sea of Sorrows - Ree Soesbee
(Not out yet)
Why should you read them? You know why..
Sea of Sorrows! Is that about Orr??
