How important are tactics in your character's build?

I put it in there, but i'm not realizing the tangible results.

Can someone explain them to me?

Do you more experienced players find tactics to be more important than strength?

as a stance tank (w/me build), tactics is a must. not just for healing but for staying alive (survivability). if you gonna go as a tank, you have to go tactics for the stances (if you are a w/me the mes secondary will give you more stances). in many pve grouping specially difficult missions/quest or just plain farming, many will ask you to be a stance tank. you will be in the front lines, abosrbing the damages, using stances to survive.

stance build to me are the best farmers in the game also, specially with the mes stances. try it anyway and see what you come up with. experiment all the tactic stances, you might even find a unique build somewhere along the lines. plenty of time in this game, might as well explore the tactic lines.
