hi,
ive got an issue with my installation:
see: i can install the game for 52%, and then
the game asks for the 2nd key.So i put it in and press ok,
and then it just doesnt respond... in the bar it says 'not responding'
'reageert niet' in dutch, if any of you are dutch...
But, i can run the game even if its only half installed, but obviously
the whole game wont be installed.
does it work if i only copy and paste all of the files from the cd
to all the other files that are already on my harddisk?
or should i try to install guild wars with my friend his cds?
thanks
kaelthas
On the main website, on the right I believe. Just download that client and run it, select where to install and let it stream the masses of downloaded files ;)
Once it's done that, leave it on the login screen to do even more. Then duplicate your shortcut on the desktop open on of them and add a command -image so it looks something like this:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image
That will decompress ALL the downloaded files at one time instead of when entering a place etc. It sounds to me like when your PC is idling in the install and constantly powering to do the install, it's crashing, perhaps due to overheating when running a long process. Never done it from the CD so don't know the install time.
Anyhow the way above is just as easy, although it takes somewhat longer, but you'd need to download the files anyhow and it saves time instead of waiting for each new place to do it.

The client can be used instead of the CD. Either way which you chose to install the game, you'll still need mass downloading of several hundred MB's of files. At the moment with all the latest content etc, my DAT file is:
3.16 GB (3,401,081,856 bytes)
So I suggest in which ever way you install if you get the CD way working, (not a faulty disk) you'd need to download rather a lot of files anyhow.
Ok dumb question here.... are you taking the first cd out and putting the second cd in the same drive? I've had issues with having the second cd in my other cdrom drive, and having it not wanna work.
I would say try your friends cd, and see if it works, if not, could be a faulty drive or something. Otherwise just do as valdrum suggusted and download the client and let it download all the files for you.
