I was just browsing through guildwiki and I realized that out of all the preorder items that Anet offered, only the american ones are not maxed in there states. Seeing how at the time anet was trying promote the idea that these items should not provide any advantage (seeing how the game just started and decent items were extremely rare) it wasn't too bad of an idea.
But now with all the changes that have occured through guild wars with weapons and off hands I feel that perhaps it is time to change some of the stats of the 1st generation collector items in order to make them actually usable in battle. I mean I love my canthan targe but honestly I use the bronze shield from the weapons smith just because the stats are better. I could probaly say the same for the ranger wielding the ithas bows and the warriors holding onto the battle pick. All these items offer great unique skins but are rarely ever seen in use simple because of there stats. Seeing as how all the new collector items are all maxed stats I think it would be fair to change the 1st preorders accordingly.
And in all honestly I don't feel that this is outside of anets powere because im sure that many people have noticed the -2/-5 absorbtion bonuses on their shields have gone from always -2/-5 to only based on physical damage only despite whether getting the shield before or after the night fall event. Also I've noticed the energy increaced on my flints wand from +3 to +5. So I feel it is perfeclty within anet's ability to change these things. Considering they can't be sold or even shown in trade windows it shouldn't affect the game balance that much. It would only serve to increase the viability of using these items in combat.
These are the changes that I would like seen made (well not like but feel it be fair) to the collector items:
Dam 13-25 => 15-28
req 10 Marks => req 9 Marks
Some sort of +15 (whichever anet feels fair) im sure the ranger owners would like over 50 hlth
* about the bow being moded i would say either remove the + 5 armor (req 10 expertise) and make it modable for the bow string only or add a +5 bow grip and some sort of bowstring (poison seems popular with the greens)
Dam 18-33 => 19-35
req 9 Ham => Leave as is
Some sort of +15 (whichever anet feels fair) im sure the hamer warrior owners would like over 50 hlth
*dealing with the +20 hlth (req 5 str) I would recommend either making it +30 and allow a mod for the hammer haft only or remove it and add a grip and haft accordingly
Energy +7 => Energy +12
Health +40 (req 8 healing) => +45 while enchanted maybe or 30 always
Armor +6 (8 Prot) => Armor +5 while enchanted or maybe remove and replace with a spell recharge/casting bonus
Energy +10 (req 8 death) => energy +12
Health +30 (req 8 blood)=> leave as is
Armor +4 req 9 curses => armor + 5 req 8 curses or no req
Armor +14 req 10 Tac => Armor +16 req 9 Tactics
Health + 30 req 8 str => Leave as is or put at 9 str
Anyways these are my suggested changes if anyone thinks they are unfair or would think others ones are fairer feel free to post with your changes. All opinions are as always welcomed. And I think Anet representatives in advance for their time reviewing the thread and looking over my suggestions.
