    GW:N, WPE Dervish Impressions

I've been enjoying it a lot, and I'm really anxiously looking forward to the game release. The scythe is great. The skills are great. Mysticism and the new use of enchantments by removal is cool.

    Your thoughts?

Well having played many Melee chars ...what is different is that I seem to looking at my skill bar more that my visual reference.....now I know this is somewhat true with any char that is using a new skill set...but...the timing of enchants and their removal has me sequencing a chain without the benefit of the Hash marks that characterize the Sin combos.

It feels a bit like an RT in speed mode. Choreography seems important.

I wish instead of having an activation time for enchantments, i would rather have them activate instantly so i don't stop swinging the scythe. :o

As much as i LOVE the outfits + hairstyles of the female dervish, i dont like playing melee charr, So i dont think i will make a dervish when full nightfall comes out ; will be playing paragon i think (but they just HAVE to give paragons long hair :cries:)

Im not too impressed with the Dervish, seems super fragile and a chore to micromanage his skills and enchantments. This is another assasin in the making im afraid. This class takes patience and skill, something the general majority of GW players doesnt possess, though I am sure the Dervish will shine in highend pvp.

I rolled a dervish til level 9 and some bit into the game but ive now stopped because I dont want to totally ruin nightfall, I just wanted to see how they played.

First Impressions: Amazing, Scythes own and being able to end your own enchants to trigger heals and dmg is brilliant and simple combos become really damned powerful. The only thing I noticed was when fighting a mandragora queen my enchants got stripped and suddenly my little battle routine was thrown out - but thats easily over come.

Image Wise: I like the hoods as helms so even though Ive got an awful hairstyle the hood helps to avoid the embarassment I dont like the fact that when the males sit their robes flop out like a mushroom or that the dance involves a twirl *shudders* But dervish own heavily for me and I cant wait for the real nightfall!!!

I am enjoying the Dervish, the class is very versatile-- I generally hate melee, but mixing it up with the scythe and enchants is a lot of fun. I like how they can hit more than 1 enemy with almost every attack, and the energy management is built in nicely. If I had a zealous mod I think I'd be in heaven in this WPE. It's a lot of fun running in with a tank, something most casters should never do- but the dervish can get away with it... most of the time. lol

I don't get why you think you have to micromanage the dervish... set up your enchants and strip them however you like. Either wait it out, use scythe skills that remove them, or CoP or the skill that is my avatar (forgot the name) etc.

Also, the assassin spiked really really well, which is why they get love in pvp; The dervish really lacks that since its new nerfs.

I missed the first Nightfall event and haven't really been reading up on it much. So I wasn't sure what to expect. But, I've been hoping for a polearm type character in GW, so I'm trying a Derv this weekend. Glad I did, she's very cool! Many of the Scythes are very nice looking and her twirling/spinning scythe attacks are great.

Interesting skills, they seemed odd at first, but I've gotten the hang of it, I think. She can dish it out pretty well and stay healthy while doing it. I'm playing her with a monk secondary, but only using rez from the monk line.

Can you get Avatars in PVE for this weekend event? I've seen some bosses around, and was wondering if it's possible to cap an Avatar.

Actually when I went to the priest of balths and looked at the dervish weapons I could only find mods such as armor+4 and sundering 10/10

Was this my non pvping self just only viewing poor mods or are anet planning on not letting the dervish get the same upgrades as other classes?
