If i remember correctly, once there are a group of ppl X have encountered people that run around like crazy to pick up loot the second when it drops... ->> ID ->> SALVAGE IT (IF IT IS RUNE ATTACH TO IT) combo even there the team is engaging in battle. Let's Called them ppl Y.

So ppl X complained + some tarzan phrase + some colorful words in the forum about ppl Y exploit and A-net then took in their request to make the features as we see now.

And Now there have a new group that called Z where they complain about this features. No customer services is a hard to handle jobs.

No, most of their impatience feeling is from the farmers and the solo~er. In my experience, most of my time i doing ID as u do (in (a) and (b)) and doing chest runs. I only have ppl Z's experience/frustration when i'm soloing, not during mission.

Nah.. Anet will not fixed it back and i'm quite happy on this, cause u only see one less stupidity in PUGs.

Yes, in 10 months. Take a look in the bug reports forum. How many things do you see there?

How high do you think this ranks in the priority list of just bugfixes?

How high do you think it ranks in the priority list of everything ANet does, not just bugfixes?

Wow. What is 10 seconds? What can you possibly do in 10 seconds that you'd need the ability to ID something immediately? It's not going to lengthen your game time any. Hell... you spend more time trying to decide if a mod is worth the attempt to salvage.

Is it just me... or does this issue remind anyone else of someone who purposefully bangs his head against a wall and then complains that it hurts ?

Is it really that hard to ID a whole batch of things only every few mins, or when you re back in town ? Instead of IDing every single item as soon as it drops right now OMG HAVE to see it can t wait 3 seconds!! wahhhhhh! ??

Well... think about it what you will, but don t expect the "issue" (cough) to get on any sort of "priority list". LOL

There, happy now? I should mention that this update was 2005. Still in the archive on the updates page if you want to check.

Looking back over it and trying to remember, I'm pretty sure it was a bug work around (check all those entries at the time for "fixed rare crash bug") AND a cute way to gently encourage people to wait til they were done fighting the monsters killing their friends. The reason they havn't fixed the underlying bug? Well, it's not a priority now that it's worked around, particularly compared to all the other bugs out there. It may very well be one of those nasty, super obnoxious bugs all of us programmers hate, and would be a pain to change without breaking lots of other things. If it is one of those kinds, would you rather their programmers worked on all the issues caused by fixing it, or worked on... Hmm, maybe fixing the stuck bug or the issues preventing reconnects? The work around isn't a big deal, and was even asked for by some people for the reasons mentioned by others.

Could the numbers still use tweaking? Yeah, I've found myself hitting the last two seconds of it more often than I'd like. Cut it down again and I'll be happier about it. But there are so many higher priority things that I see no reason to be bothered by something I can avoid by just remembering to walk a few more steps towards my goal before bothing to bring up the inventory screen and see what I got.

I was trying to remember when that update was... I knew it was shortly after Guild Wars was released.

I do however remember that a week or two later that "shortened time" seemed to disappear to me, possibly even becoming longer than it was before they shortened it. I might have just been paranoid, but until about two weeks after that update I barely noticed the waiting time, then suddenly it was always interfering with me (and still is).

Lately, when I end a fight and want to salvage/identify stuff I bring up my inventory, count to ten, then fail to ID/Salvage. Then I count another five seconds or so and ID/salvage again. Usually it works by that point. Sometimes not. I've actually become convinced as of late that the timer is broken, or someone is messing with me...

It should allow you to ID/salvage after ten seconds.
The game's messing with your mind.

It s alien mind control. The time you have to wait is the same as it has been for the longest time, but aliens mess with your mind and stretch your subjective perception of time just to annoy you. Shortly you will feel as if you have to wait for over a year each time and then they will implant wierd things in yer...toe

P.S. Sigh, they re playing "Taken" again on TV lol.... a show that actually did make me feel as if i had lost several hours of my life. :P
