    Are Assassins Too Strong?

I was looking at some of the Deathly Arts skills, and I'm starting to wonder if Assassins are a little overpowered... take a look at this GvG build I practically threw together (I would use this build as a replacement to a snarer)

    Enduring Toxin
    Shadow of Haste
    Scorpion Wire
    Falling Spider
    Repeating Strike
    Crippling Dagger
    Death's Charge
    Shadow Refuge

    Attributes:
    16 Deadly Arts (12+3+1)
    10 Shadow Arts (9+1)
    10 Dagger Mastery (9+1)

Think about the little combo of Shadow of Haste (Stance. For 5-17 seconds you move 25% faster than normal. When Shadow of Haste ends, you return to the location where you activated this skill.) and Scorpion Wire (Hex Spell. For 8-18 seconds, the next time you and target foe are more than 100' apart, you teleport to that foe and that foe is knocked down. This Spell has half the normal range.). You speed up, using Crippling Dagger if needed. approx. 15 seconds later, you end up teleporting backwards, and immediately forewards again. then, followed by Falling spider and Enduring Toxin, you have an incredibly deadly combo. Am I right in saying that Assassins are getting a little out of hand power-wise?

In most pvp, I'd say one or the other of you would be dead in less than 15 seconds- you'd probably want to shift stances to trigger Shadow of Haste early.

Heh. They do tremendous amounts of dmg. IF they stay alive long enough. Considering how easy it is for just about anyone to kill them with that paper armor of theirs, no.

Funny thing a guildie said to me. I asked him, "Do you think guildwiki has any good anti-assasin builds out yet?" He replied, "The anti-assasin build is called the Warrior." lol

Shadow of Haste has since been revamped. (Stance. For 30-54 seconds, you move 15% faster than normal.) Just thought you'd like to know

I would hardly say they're overpowered, at least not with the above build. I've run a similar build in AB, using a Haste cancel to get a guaranteed KD, but my combo was different. It was Scorpion Wire, Falling Spider, Twisting Fangs, Palm Strike.

It wouldn't kill everything, but I was able to take out unsuspecting casters and sins with little to no trouble at all.

Your build lacks damage, and in GvG, the poison from Falling Spider alone won't be enough to do serious damage with and it can also be removed very easily. If Repeating Strike gets blocked, you'll have to wait for it to recharge. You'd be better off replacing it with a dual for more damage. You also wouldn't need Death's Charge. Enduring Toxin is very easily countered. Deadly Arts at 16 unfortunately does nothing about the duration, so anyone that has it on them can simply stand still, wait for it to wear off, and go about their business. Crippling Dagger is a bit too conditional.

Your Dagger Mastery should be 12 minimum if you want to get max damage from your daggers. You also have no points in Critical Strikes, thus no way to regain energy apart from natural regen.

The only other flaw in this build is that Scorpion Wire teleports you towards the opposition with no way out. You'd need some kind of backup plan after connecting with your combo (maybe Return?).

It's fun using Scorpion Wire (zipping back and forth before landing a combo is pretty cool and looks great) but you'll need to connect with something really damaging in the process to get the most out of it.

Reading this post has just given me an idea for a dual sin GvG build

Ha, tell that to "Flourish" sin users coupled with Strength of Honor/Brutal Weapon. Even warriors can't stand up to that.

Meh..I've killed more warriors in AB with my sin then any other classes... and that opinion above is EXACTLY the reason.. not to mention the fact that most of them are kids who think they are invincible cause they have the biggest armor of all the classes..so only thing left to say is: LOL

I don't think they are too strong, at least in PVE. In pvp I don't know, but my bet is that much depends on the player's skill, as always.

They are not overpowered, if they were, you would see Assassins owning big time, which is not currently the case.
Plus, you seem to mostly speak of AB, other PVP experiences may vary.

    :)

Assassins are quite squishy, and the way combos are implemented in the game make them alot less effective in certain situations. Do they have good killing potentia? yea they're finally getting to be that way.

As for that build... you're not going to kill much of anything in PvP. :(
