Update the look of FoW armor?

I've been contemplating this for some time now... And I want to know what the community thinks.

Every chapter, we see new, fresh looking armors. While there are some armors that don't appeal to most, there are also some that people adore. These armors come with new looks, and set a new standard for armors to come.

As we all know, FoW armor is perhaps one of the most expensive money sinks in the game, costing some well over 800k to obtain. If you ask me, one of the biggest money sinks should give you an armor that's different, and appealing to most. But, as you can see, alot of people don't bother with FoW armor anymore. The look is old, and... in some cases, a little bland. (My opinion.)

I, for one, wouldn't mind something absolutly awesome. Something that breaks the bounderies and explores upon a new style of armor. FoW, as it seems, is supposed to be one of the darker, more evil armors. And yet... There are quite a few sets of 15k armor in the game that make me go: "I wish my FoW looked like that, if not better.".

So, why not make FoW something that'll make you stand out in the crowd? Why not add in special effects to the pieces; wings, auras, extra limbs?

Don't get me wrong, I like the look of some of the Fissure of Woe armors... Although, I think they could be improved upon. Not drastic changes, just little things that'll make them stick out.

    So. Your opinion?

I agree. I'm thinking a really, really big helmet like Darth Helmet from Spaceballs, so everyone knows you're important. Perhaps some oversized six-shooters in holsters at your side that are used with a special skill "I'm going to shoot you in the face", that does just that for a once per morale boost instant kill. I also think chrome plating and spinners on the chest and the crotch would be particularly bad *** looking.

Or they could go a different way, but I'm just saying...

    No you cannot.

You may think FoW looking is ugly or outdated, but many others don't think so. If you wanna ANet to update it to make you happy, how about others? How about those who just love the looking of FoW and want it to stay as it is now?

I was rather surprised they never came out with any kind of 'elite' armor based on drops from The Deep & Urgoz Warren to be different, but of the same expense level as Obsidian Armor. Wouldn't each chapter benefit from having some form of extreme money-sink armor that fits the setting?

And repeating what I have said in the necromancer forums. I just want a simple set of dark robes already. Some runes might be nice, but do we really need fish fins, horns, boney horns, eyes, fingers, toes, etc..popping out all over the place? Obsidian armor introduced some obsidian spikes in a way that was at least tasteful, but some of the current ones are hideous.

So I'll go with new options, but the classic Obsidian Armor should probably remain as is.

Why not just make the new look a second option? Keep the old FoW designs available, but also add in a new design too.

I am all for making a new FoW. Or, I was thinking, have another armour crafter in another high-level area who requires the same stuff as FoW currently does, but the armour looks different - so you're paying the same, it's just as hard to get there, but the look is different depending on who you go to.
Either way, yes, a lot of the current FoW armours are very boring. The Warrior FoW is downright ugly, the Necro Monk and Ele ones are dull, the 'Sin and Rit ones are nothing to write home about either, and in afct the only FoW armours I think are worth bothering with really are the female Ranger and female Mesmer ones - though the male versions of those blow too. I've not yet seen the Paragon FoW, but I've seen the Dervish one and that's nothing to get excited over either. So yeah - give us some better looking armour.

Options are always a good thing, never a bad thing. I can't see why anyone would oppose something like this.

I think I clearly stated that my initial post was based off my opinions. I voiced what I thought, and wanted to know what everyone else thought.

I understand that some people do like the look of some of the FoW armors. They are, no doubt, nice. (Or at least, some of them are, in my opinion.). But they're not all that special, especially when considering the cost of a full set.

I'm not saying: "Redesign the full set, and force everyone to change the look!"

What if they just added the new look to the FoW crafters list, and kept the old set there as well? Pretty fair if you ask me.

Completely redesigning existing armour would piss off so many people. The cost of getting FoW armour is insane. Arbitrarily changing that on people would be a terrible mistake. Now offering another kind of high end armour is a different thing. That would be fine, especially since Nightfall has much fewer armour sets than the other two games. I'm very happy with my FoW hose. I'd be very upset it they changed that. It's the only piece of armour like it in the game for my mez.

No to redesigning fissure armour, and no to adding a new alternative fissure armour. Redesigning fissure armour would be a huge mistake as plenty of people like it as it is (me, for instance; the assassin is the only class whose female fissure armour I don't find gorgeous) and have spent a very large sum of money on it. Adding an extra design option would remove the purpose of fissure as the top-tier, ultimate-gold-sink armour. And I believe it's been stated in the past that ANet intend to keep fissure as the solitary top-end armour... although they're always free to change their minds on that, I don't see why they'd want to.

If you want shiny armours to admire for six months before you hop on to the next chapter's newer and better designs, get 15k sets. That's really what they're there for.

Part of its mystique is by being the only ultimate top-end armour. Making more would remove this.
