    Need help choosing profession

Hi every1. So far I have 1 slot left for a pve char, saving a slot for pvp. So far I have warrior, monk, ele, necro, ranger, dervish, paragon. Basically i'm deciding between assassin, ritualist, mesmer. I was wondering if yall knew which profession would be easiest for me to get into pve mission groups that are too hard for henchies.

Also which profession would be easiest (and easiest to get into groups) to use for elite Nightfall/Canthan missions.

    thx

I would guess a Ritualist. They have decent damage, many of their skills are similar to Necros, Monks, and Rangers.

Assassins have awesome damage, but can be hard to play well. As a result, they have developed a bad rep for "squishyness" and tend to have trouble grouping in PvE.

Mesmers are good, but they've been hit pretty hard in various updates. For this reason, you actually see fewer of them than you do assassins, IMO. They can still build great skill combos and do decent damage though.

    Ratings IMO
    Access to PvE groups:
    1. Rit
    2. Mes
    3. 'Sin (in general)

    For damage:
    1. Good 'Sin
    2. Rit
    3. Mes

Don't know about the Elite areas, I haven't been to them, sorry.

    ADDED 1:
Make sure you justify your choices every1. It makes for interresting discussion, and helps the OP understand why the voting is going the way it is. I've seen several votes besides mine come in w/ no explanations.

    ADDED 2 (to below):
If you didn't like Factions, I guess I'm not sure why you were considering a 'Sin or a Rit for PvE. I suppose that you can get through Shing Jea Island then go to Kamadan (NF) from KC and play that instead, there are some skills available there but not nearly as many. If you are going to do a lot of PvP later, Mesmers are definitely good. Also, 'sins are sometimes well received because of their mobility and damage. They are excelent solo spikers, just don't try to tank, that is where the bad rep came from, that's not what they are for. Keep in mind too that you can get extra character slots through the Online Store for about $10US if you so choose.

Assassins seem to get the most discrimination.

I have a L20 Rit, but I got bored of her. I will say that a good Ritualist can do some amazing things (easily as good as a monk in FoW) - I think there is still a lot of untapped potential in this profession and it may get more interesting as time goes by.

Mesmers are fun if you take Sun Tzu to heart and like to "attack the enemies plan". You will face some discrimination, but I think among better players, people will value a mesmer.

One of my favorite characters to play is my Mesmer. Essentially, you're equipped to handle any situation, if you prepare for it right. However, even if you're new to the profession and don't know if you want to use Mesmer skills, you can always fall back on Fast Casting and use that attribute, while playing any other class you want.

Ex: Fast Casting nuker, Fast Casting Necro, Fast Casting Monk (Res spells have never been this fast!)

While you're getting used to the class as an FC whatever, you begin to value those few Mesmer spells you stick in there, maybe Backfire and Empathy at first, and Wastrel's Worry, then even more fun ones like Ineptitude and Migraine.

If you didn't like Factions, then your choice is pretty much made, since both the Assassin and Ritualist are Factions characters. Good luck with your Mesmer; I know you'll grow to love the class

ended up making a mesmer, named her after jessica alba :)

Maybe if next chapter no new professions I'll go for rit :) or if I decide I wont ever use assassin for pvp i'll spend my last slot on a rit.

reason I chose mesmer is i'll more fun playing her than rit
