    Remember the Assassins?

Does anyone remember a year during the Factions preview event and every arena was filled with Assassins. They had rally good skills and probably were better than warrios. Then after factions was released there were still a lot of sins but they were discriminated. It wasn't even funny. A sin was probably one of the hated classes out there. Now sins have evolved and become so versatile in both pvp and pve it's very wanted. Share your opinions on yourself being a sin, hardships, and now and then.

To me, I had no problems getting into groups at low level places as long as I am at a high level, but later on when everyone is level 20, you chances of getting into groups is pretty low. I usually group up with my friend.

In PVP, I definitely agree with jouninassasin that a lot people want assassins to be in their team.

PVE - still the same really. Monks still think you will die faster than anything even if you know what you're doing.

PVP - The shadow prison build is what the sin really needed. An all out killing machine taking advantage of the element of surprise and speed. Before the buffs, sins are just crap compared to the Spiking capabilities of the dervish and the warriors. Those classes were suppose to be better at tanking than doing damage and the sins should be more on offense than defense. What happened before is that the wars and dervs exel in both, while the sins sucked in both.
It's really nice to see the Sins getting some love in PVP now, I hope it will last.

Have you ever wondered why assassins got big buffs in every skill balance sience begining (well... apart from few skills that were abused by other professions)?
It looks like ANet lost their original idea about assassins (the one from preview event maybe?) and they're looking for it from that time.

    On topic
I think that in PvP the situation is quite good and its getting better all the time.

But PvE is the same as it was in the begining. Most of the times i'm invited only if there are no other proffesions around (even when I'm showing fancy titles like protector or cartographer).

I've gotten invites for everything, since I started my Assassin. Well, everything but Raisu Palace.

I don't think its the skills for the Assassin that is problematic, but the player. Too many people try to tank as an Assassin, and thus give grief to the healers.

As a healer, I don't mind having a few Assassins in the group. As an Assassin, I'll demand a tank or many healers in the group (as I hate holding aggro if there is no tank).

I never was in the preview event, and I waited for about a month or so before creating an Assassin. I've heared about the hate, so I waited until the hate died down.

Assassins werent designed for Factions... or maybe Factions wasnt designed for Assassins.... in Nightfall and Prophesies they rock, not having much trouble to get into pugs in those two chapters, did factions with guildies and henchman,
I created a assassin after the initial wave of "wammo mentality sins" and during that period i was one of the ppl who would refuse more then on assa in a party, fortunately most of those "ug smash" assas are gone now to play Dervish so the quality not the quantity remain, and i think most people realize that.

Well, last night in pve I got some praise for my spikage from a warrior (!) of all things. I was just fighting at his side doing my own thing.

I thought he was talking about my ancient armor...was so shocked and so happy when it was my noticeable damage!

I do mostly pve and currently I have the most fun with my sin. I only seriously started playing assassin 3 months ago after all of the craziness had died down. It really is an interesting and fun/challenging class to play. I love oddball classes, my other favorites are mesmers and rangers...particularly beastmastery or melee rangers.

I do ask for feedback from monks in my party and try to improve my tactics if I am straining them. As my guild is very caster heavy I am often the only melee person in a party and I do by default end up tanking and pulling at times. I'm rather a bit bold because I have to be!

Ever since assassins first came out I've maintained that they were superior to warriors. Every time they get buffed this statement because less and less debatable.

In Nightfall and Prophecies, people generally love assassins simply because there's a buffer (namely, that most newbie sins stay in Cantha) to protect them from the ninja wannabes. I like to think that it's generally recognized that a competent assassin is one of the best additions to a party.

As for PvP, assassins are the second from the top on my "uh oh" scale, #1 being Mesmers, although I do have a special slot saved at the very top in case Zangief ever makes it into the game with his Final Atomic Buster.

i've played an assassin since the pvp preview event and i've loved the class ever since. since then i've gotten factions, finished it with my sin and am now 3 missions away from finishing NF and close to ascending in proph. i take my time playing but i enjoy the class so much, and this is for PvE. sure, there was a wave of sin-hate a few months after factions was released but i was able to ride that out and stuck with my class. there's still a bit of discrimination going around, but in PvE and PvP, a sin can be a very valuable addition.
