You know, if Chapter 4 were delayed by a long time (Octuber 2007), I wouldn't mind if we got a small "Expansion Pack" on April, with a few small maps. The caveat is that those could be linked to the storyline - the Ascalonians pushing the Charr to the lands of the north (so we would have half a dozen new quests in Ascalon, all with high level Charrs and some in one or two new maps), a flashback series of quests in Cantha to explain there the mess with Shiro's story (that got explained in Nightfall, granted, but I wouldn't mind if the explanation happened in Cantha, with we actually playing in flashback quests), and some quests in Elona (OUTSIDE of the Realm of Torment, for a change) about rebuilding the Sunspears and changing the land over the eyes of *you know who*.

No, the difference is not there. Public Relations deals with the media as a whole - for example, the Press Releases, talking to gaming magazines, discussing with game stores about the marketing there, etc...All of that is outside Gaile's job (as far as I understand it); also as far as I know, Arena Net has a PR person, and that person is not Gaile (I forgot the person's name, but she has been mentioned before).
Gaile's job is specifically to deal with the community - which means more gathering information than expressing it, I would guess.
I have the feeling that those who are already saying they will not be "blown away" wouldn't be so no matter what Arena Net had to sayAlso "blown away" is a really high bar to set us up to get ready to jump over it.![]()

I would be blown away just for a release date of guildwars: chapter 4 in April :D
I would be blown away just for that, and with other news, i will probably have to run around the neighbor and scream with happyness xd
same here TinKLer...
Gaile, if I could get just one straight answer from the powers that be, could you please (prretty please with bean cake on top) ask alex if he would be willing to divulge just the TENTATIVE date for the new chapters release? I need some serious time to scrape enough cash together to drop down on the CE edition of the new chapter, and a projected release date would help us figure out just how much time we have to gather funds......(I said pretty please!)
Gotta agree with ya there. Hard mode isn't something likely to be publicized, as this "next big thing in GW" apparently is, in a popular gaming magazine.
The only ones who would find that kind of news exciting and noteworthy would be that 10-20% of hardcore GW players, much less the rest of the GW community, not to mention the PC gaming public in general who reads PC Gamer.
So yeah, the only thing I can really think of is Campaign 4, Utopia or not.
Speaking of GW articles in gaming magazines though, did anyone else come across that GW article/interview in issue #4 of Games For Windows?
Didn't really wanna start an entire topic for it (even though I searched but didn't find anything on it), since the issue is a month-old, but in any case, for those who missed it, it was a 2 page interview with some of the GW team in the March issue of Games For Windows (formerly Computer Gaming World).
Some of the topics addressed in the interview:
- The issue that there are things to fix, like getting better drops from places you wouldn't expect lousy whites, like UW. The lack of Sunspear points for foreign characters was brought up as a past example of stuff that needed fixing
- Also admitted the Assassin and Ritualist fell a bit short in Factions compared to the Dervish and Paragon
- Bit ambiguous about new professions and skills though, as they don't want new players to be constantly swamped with an endless number of new skills to consider, though they are aware new professions are one of the biggest attractions in a new campaign
- No to all the following: >3 heroes per player, de-customization, and new PvE chars having access to all unlocked skills like heroes do. No real surprise at any, and no biggie in any case.
- No comment on Gwen![]()
You've just let another little tidbit of information leak!![]()
"Hype Department" is an anagram of "EMPATHY NERD PET"
Therefore, C4 will include Nerds casting Empathy on enemy pets!
Then again, it can also anagram to "THERAPY MEND PET"
Perhaps there will be new ways to buff/hex pets?
Or how about "PANTHER DYE TEMP"
We'll get panthers in C4! and we'll be be able to dye them, as well as saving dye templates!
"HARPY PETTED MEN"
Skree Harpies will be allies in a future chapter?
Hmmmm...

As you can see Gaile, you're driving some of us here crazy...
