Hex Eater Vortex is worth your while. . .

I've been testing out some builds with Hex Eater Vortex and I've been really liking the results.

If you can't see the above image the core skills used in every build are Unnatural Signet, Glyph of Lesser Energy, Shatter Enchant, Res sig, and Vortex obviously . ..

The top one is pretty much the Ra config

The middle and bottom one are for organized play so pretty much everything else.

    ----------

    That's really about all i got. . .

Other than maybe highlighting Unnatual Signet as one of the few counters against Diversion I'd say that most of you already know what's what and can handle yourselves quite well.

    /peace

nice. But maybe explain how you use HEV? Also, I am pretty sure your team destroyed mine in RA yesterday with the top build. Damn spirits dying so fast....

I had been playing around with it, you just need to have the monk not beat you to the hex. It's a beautiful skill for to be used on those hex'ed warriors that are already up in everyone's face. hex the warrior take a nasty hit!

In PvE area's that are heavy hex's this is pretty much your nuke, add shatter hex for the continual damage. Biggest problem I keep hitting is many monks have gotten so good at takeing all the hex's off.

Alright I admit I had to look up what Hex Eater Vortex does. :D No I've never used it.

So it's like an elite Shatter Hex that also removes an enchantment from nearby foes. Decent cost and recharge too. What I'm not seeing is the great synergy you have found for it with these builds, you'll have to explain it to me since I obviously can't handle myself. :(

Or are they just examples of Domination magic builds you used it in?

Well really Dom Mesmer bars are incredible without their elite taken into consideration. The bars just have the usual synergy they have on their own (bar 1 is punishment hexes for RA, bar 2 is shutdown/spike assist/ward for GvG or HA, bar 3 is a Dom interrupter bar with spike assist). Dom Mesmers are free to take whatever elite they like, and Hex Eater Vortex is possibly the best (and possibly only decent) NF Dom Mesmer skills. Since ESurge isn't so dominant anymore with the area nerf it might be worth picking if you want the utility instead of the now pretty usual Mantra of Recovery (which just allows you to use your awesome non-elite skills more often).

While many other classes have to build their bar around their elite (take a Searing Flame Ele, or nearly any Necro build), Domination has so strong non-elite skills that the elite is just for a little something extra and you can afford to use it on any kind of utility your team requires.

WingspanTT: hehe. . . I was using the name "Questionable Goods" when I played it yesterday.

    ---------

Lady Eleni: Thanx! saves me some typing.

    ---------

Lytel: heh I guess the skill really is that unpopular so i'll try my hand at a rundown.

The thing with HEV it runs on a condition that your foes inflict. . .

Feast or Famine makes a lot of people ignore it, but when you look at a lot of the high end metagame it's a killer.

    ---------

Easiest example is using the skills against Assassins.

Some of their best skills and combos revolve around hexes as lead-attack bypasses. (that's one)

Nobody is running NR blood spike so if you see a necro they'll have them. (that's two)

Ele's are also prime candiate thanx to recent buffs. . . (that's three)

And other mesmers obviously. . .(to make four)

    ---------

It's only 4 out of 10, but considering that your opponents only need to have one hexer to make the skill worth bringing your odds are very good. . .

The biggest none-hex threat is already covered for via Unnatural Signet so the remainder of the build can be dedicated toward whatever you or your team wants or likes.

I'm out of time to elaborate more for the time being so . . .

    Basically what Pat said! ^^

TBH i'd really take MoR with me :))

Have to admit i messed with HEV too and it's a nice skill...however i'm expecting a nerf to it in the next skill balance. A nerf of the highest ranks (aka 'You can't use it anymore coz you'd look stupid if you did').

I'm starting to get depressed by all these nerfs :(
