Ok Anet, the joke's over... let PvE melee characters hold aggro again

The current monster mentality is basically "attack casters and ignore melee fighters as much as possible". Doesn't matter if you are with real people or heroes/henchmen. I can recall many times where there are two (or more) melee characters in a monster's face but who does the monster continue shooting at and use spells on? The non-melee characters, especially monks. All the casters could be out of its aggro range but the moment one crosses that barrier, monster almost immediately shifts all focus on that caster and stays there. Happened to me lots of times.

Enough already! Many others will agree with me that this crap needs to end right now.

I'd argue that you need to be more intelligent about it. I'm glad the monsters attack the weakest members of the team, they're the weakest! Monsters want to win, too! You know how the aggro system works, beat it. Tack on an extra superior rune and take an extra defensive skill and tank.

I'm glad it works the way it does. Monsters shouldn't be easily duped.

I like the way the aggro works, it makes the monsters seem more intelligent and challenging. Learn to beat the system, like bring a smiting monk and see them try to attack them while they pwn with Symbol of Wrath etc... muhahahha

When you engage a mob of monsters, who do you generally target first: the casters/monks or warriors/rangers?

There it is, it only makes sense a mob would go after the casters first.
There really isnt anything wrong with the current system, at least for me.

The monsters are acting in the same way you would.

And if you've been following the story of most of the games you'd find that most of the monsters are far from mindless beasts.
There's no shame in asking questions. Ask away at the Newcomer and Questions Forum for GW2. GW1 archive here.
Here comes your warrior, he's letting you know... that you can discuss the profession here.

If you let a Warrior approach a mob first, and remain right on the edge of spell-casting range, aggro can still be maintained (until you get over-zealous). But I agree with what people have said - the current system is fine. A human team would go straight for the enemy's weakest link first, so why shouldn't the AI?

Nothing has changed, they would be stupid to go for the warriors. If you want to hold agro you have to work at it. There are pleanty of write ups in the Warrior forum about this. Look there to learn how to deal with it.
