Simple PvP Question

Well, I just started seriously getting into PvP, and I have a question. I noticed some people walking around with ascended/obsidian/etc armor and fire/ice/lit swords, and I was wondering if PvP characters can get these things without trading with other PvE players. Or are these PvE characters playing in HA?

PVP characters are stuck with the armour you find in the pvp equipment section as you cannot trade armour with other characters and there are no armour crafters in pvp.
You can trade weapons with other characters though so a pvp character could end up with a fancy weapon. But you a pvp chacacter can't 'make' these weapons themselves, they have to come from pve in the first place.
