Somebody asked in the PAL forum about ideas of RPGs to play and somehow Morrowind ended up taking over the thread. I've started playing again a couple weeks back after five years of absence and man, has it changed.
During these five years, and although Oblivion has been around for two, modders have been busy. The result is that the game looks mighty sweet on top of having a superior back story, and is potentially filled with more content than you can see in one or even three runs through the game. Yeah, I am hooked again.
Here are the three characters I made, ranger warrior and mage. The armor, clothing and weapon options and combinations thereof have been made so diverse (especially for female characters) that one can spend hours just trying out outfits. And that's saying nothing of the additional game mechanics, bestiary, furniture, drinks and whatnot.
And all that for $8 on amazon, plus a truckload of internet downloads. Give it a(nother) try, it doesn't disappoint! :)

I'd love to get back into it, to be honest, but the thought of Cliff Racers gives me the heebie jeebies.

hehe, morrowind is one of my all time favorite games. If you want to be "cheap" try this:
raid the vivec vaults, gather all artifacts in the game.
sell to mud crab merchant
enchant every piece of your armor with constant health regeneration.
go kill lord vivec![]()
Also if you want to gain levels really fast make one of your characters primary attributes acrobatics (or whatever jumping levels up i can't remember). Then go to vivec city, find one of the large ramps, and jump all the way up and all the way down (when going up remember to press your jump button as fast as humanly possible). You'll gain acrobatics points at a rediculous rate. I think by the time I finally beat morrowind I was nearly level 50...![]()

The only thing I remember about morrowind was that I used to kill this clothes merchant so I could take possession of his house. Maybe I ought to give it another spin...
As much as I loved Morrowind, I think I'll settle for fooling around in Oblivion when I have the time to spare.
The mod community really has given the game an enduring legacy though. It's quite impressive for having been around for that long. Then again, I think someone's probably still modding for Daggerfall, if you want to be honest about it.
Owww... but I use almost a hundred! Not necessarilly at the same time, but...
Okay let's give it a try.

- Other towns revamped
- Creatures 9
- Whereareallthebirdsgoing (you want this one!)
- Weathered Signposts
Game Mechanics:
- Unofficial Patch 1.63
- Marksman enhanced

- Children of Morrowind
- Advanced Herbalism

- Robe replacer (Check also Metal Queen boutique and pretty much everything else on that page)
- Bob's Armory
- Clothiers of Vvardenfell
- Goth Shop for Men (there are add-ons for this one too)
I'll stop here... there's a lot more if you look around. :p You can refer to more exhaustive lists like this one, for instance. Also, you want to get and use Wrye Mash actively.

Morrowind has been a joy to play, and to be honest I enjoyed more the mods for the game than the actual game itself. Its in the creative mind of talented folks who put together these wonderful mods and I have a boat of them saved on a hard disk.
I wish Morrowind went MMORPG, its such a huge open ended world with endless possibilties. Most of the sites I used to get the mods are no longer up ever since Oblivion came out. Is there another site that has the better head mod, that one is my fav.
Last time I checked on mods for morrowind someone was working on an Elven village with tree bridges etc..? did they ever complete the Elf village mod? or know of a mod that has a elf village?
