    Lightbulb Gold Salvage Kit

Especially with the Dungeons in EotN, people are constantly running into inventory space problems. After the second level most people have a full inventory, forcing them to decide which items they want to leave behind or which items to salvage for materials they don't need.
Many people wanted that there are merchants added to explorable areas and dungeons, but that is a long-wided thing to realize.

My Idea is that a new item is added to the game: The Gold Salvage Kit.

It destroys an item not for materials but for a percentage of the gold value it would be worth when selling it to a trader. 80% seems to be a good amount here if the Salvage Kit itself has 100 uses and costs 300 gold.
That way, salvaging 100 items worth 50 gold this way would result in a net gain of 3.7k, while simply selling them to the trader would yield 5k.

This means that selling them to the trader is still the better thing to do, but if your inventory is full, at least you have an alternative to stuffing it full of materials you do not need (and reducing the gold gained even more).

    Any thoughts?

One of the problems I usually encounter salvaging in the field: my first five or six salvages result in five or six different materials. I would like to be able to salvage directly to gold.

I'd go so far to say that we could skip the "costs" part and just dump the item in something like the battleplan decrypter. Save time, save space; that packrat mechanic of accumulating stuff and dropping it in the next town at the merchant is really something that belongs back in the 90ies.

I think this is a better name than calling it a salvage kit. And it could even be, as noted, an Asura device that transmutes something to gold.

In any case, nice idea, no matter what it's called.

Actually it being an Asura item was my first idea.
But then I thought that this would mean it would be an EotN only item, which it clearly shouldn't be.

And I don't have any qualms about it being GW:EN only; perfect salvage kits are GW:EN only too.

If it can be traded from player to player, it will be no problem. Those owning GW:EN will be kind enough to supply guild members with it. Those who don't have a guild surely will find somebody who will sell it a a little extra cost. The community will regulate itself and we can finally kiss one of the oldest and most overcome mechanics good bye.

That's... a pretty novel idea there. I'm not sure if I totally like the idea, but I'd be up for seeing further testing of it.
