Introductory Ramblings....

Hey all,

I don't ask for much (except gold, sweets, booze, freebies, everything you own, runs, souls, attention, power......ok, maybe I do ask for a lot), so if everyone could spare a couple of minutes to help me do something, I'd seriously appreciate it. I mean, if I was next to you when you did this, you'd totally get hugs and me going ^.^.


Background

Long story short, I have a friend who has entered a modelling competition. They've made it to the final 20. If they win, they get a modelling contract etc etc... This is a good friend of mine, who's helped me a lot, so helping them win this would be like paying back the favour. This is where you come in...

The person we are voting for is Jasmeet Hunjan (a.k.a. Jazzy). Her entry pictures can be found here.
NB: The site uses Flash to show the images, so you'll have to scroll through some other entries to get to her.


What you need to do:

1. Goto The London Paper Reader's Model Competition (http://www.thelondonpaper.com/cs/Satellite/london/fashion/article/1157149775710?packedargs=suffix%3DArticleControlle r).
2. Choose Jasmeet Hunjan.
3. Enter the security text.
4. Click vote.
5. Come back to this thread, add to the poll to say you've voted and post as well.

Advanced Uber Helpers

What's that? You want to help more and keep voting? Fantastic! Here's how to keep voting:

In Internet Explorer 7

1. Goto Tools > Internet Options.
2. Click on Delete...
3. Click on Delete All...
4. Select Yes.
5. Repeat the Voting process as outlined above.

Basically, clearing out all your temporary internet files allows you to revote. It's a little bit of an arcane method, since only a couple of files probably actually need removing, but I don't know which ones, so I went Chuck Norris on my temp files (I don't use IE anyway, so it didn't affect me).

In Firefox

1. Goto Tools > Clear Private Data.
2. Tick only the boxes for Cache and Cookies.
3. Click on Clear Private Data Now.
4. Repeat the Voting process as outlined above.

This also clears cached data, but hey if you're a hardcore voter, it'll be worth it.

I'm sure in IE6 and Opera (or whatever other web browser you use) will work in a similar way. Free GW items to whoever figures out the specific files that need to be deleted, since that'll speed this up a lot.

Alright, I've voted once and I may possibly vote again but that site and my computer really don't get along.

Your friend's certainly more photogenic than you, Rei. The absence of cake and chips in and on her face makes a world of difference - something for you to keep in mind ;)

It's not the site, it's one of the ad companies... After about 10 minutes, I finally was able to open the site (after having added "ds.serving-sys.com" to my adblocker...)

LOL Rei, you know cheating is bad!
But I voted couple of times from different PCs and IPs, 6 times to be precise.
Btw they prevent voting by setting a cookie. I'm using FireFox, so I have this cookie browser. The cookie you need to delete, in order to be able to vote again, has as name the id of the page (1157149775710). But we can't be sure they're not saving the IPs too.

With a simple script you can generate huge amount of votes for the current winner, making it obvious that the winner is actually cheating to get most votes. So the current winner should be disqualified... }:D
P.S. Just noticed your friend is the current winner :D You can use the flooding script to any other participant. :D Ok enough ebil things, back to calculating the earnings ;D

A script wouldn't get past the security thing. At least, I don't think it would. The point of that is to stop people using scripts to vote in the first place.

Also, voting more than once isn't cheating:

4. You may vote more than once. However, all mass emailing including spam, bulk or block emails will be discounted.

We're simply voting more than once. We're not spamming them.

I agree about the site not agreeing with my computer. Firefox ended up at about 140MB of memory usage, and 100% CPU usage because of it. IE seems ok, but I don't stay on the page for too long.

For some reason, every time I've voted, nothing has appeared in the results. So either, it's not registering them (and therefore the competition is fixed, and Jazzy should win by default), or the other people in the lead have an incredibly huge number of votes.

*Update*
I just looked now, and Jazzy has 18% of the votes and is now in FIRST place!!!

Install Adblock Plus... It's those flash ads on the top and to the right of the page... Block them, and the page runs very smoothly again.

Well if i'd been brutally impartial in my voting she'd have probably ranked #3 out of the 20 for me.

However I wasn't brutally impartial - I voted for Jasmeen because she's Rei's mate, which just goes to show that in this world it's not what you know, it's who you know that counts :-)
