Bah, does that mean they're just using a modified version of the battle system of XII, but with a (I'm guessing) better story than XII?
Do that tweeting thing? Me too! Like experimenting? I'm also adrift Google+.
I can barely remember XII's battle system, tbh. All I know is gambits are retarded.
It's more like FFX-2 and Crisis Core combined, if you've played those. Instead of costume things, you have paradigms you can switch to in battle with different roles. Ravager raises the chain bonus, Commando slows the rate of chain bonus decline, Sentinel tanks, Medic heals, Saboteur does debuffs and Synergist does buffs. And like Crisis Core, you string your attacks together and then they play out. But, really, you can just mash A and it chooses the most effective strategy for you, which is pretty lame but very easy. At later points, as I'm beginning to see, you need to switch paradigms a lot in one battle if you want to win. And most enemies have retarded defense unless you hit them with Deprotect and Deshell, and get a Stagger bonus which is what happens when the chain gauge thing fills. TBH, I like it being completely turn-based better than this, because it's annoying seeing your characters walk into an attack when if you could actually control them you could walk away, or in turn-based you know it's inevitable. Giving the illusion of dodging is annoying.
But yeah, the story is interesting.
Fighter: Why are these people sleeping?
Black Mage: Er uh. Because they are tired?
Fighter: Why are these people on fire?
Black Mage: Ah.. Um. They were cold?
