I was trying to look it up online and it looks like only one news station reported on the 4chan thread and there were a couple of threads saying they picked up the troll bait.

Yeah he started a fire and the police bolted the doors and windows and now he's dead. Seems the police could have handled it better but the whole thing is really messed up.

If what I read was true, the guy had military training and had done a good job of keeping the police out of his place and wasn't really looking to give himself up. Doesn't look like he was getting out of there alive.
