I do own EotN, but I totally have to agree with you on this.
One might have been playing GW for 3 to 4 years or longer by than, but simply because you don't own that expansion, you don't get the benefits others do?
I understand that the HoM was brought in with the expansion, but it would be nice to have one accessible in each campaign, let's say after you finnished the last mission... Especially now that all campaigns have an endgame area and unique weapons available. I don't think it would be hard to implement.
You can pick it up from some places for around $10. It's certainly around $20-25 at most locales. If you really think that it's not worth that much on its own, not even taking into consideration the whole HoM transfer aspect, you're just being bitter for bitterness's sake.
I hope in GW2 the HOM will be kind of like a museum, a reminder of the past. As such I think it should be a lot bigger than it is currently in GW1. Here are a few ideas I have for the HOM in GW2:
-New halls are added to the HOM based on the number of titles dedicated to it. A HOM can grow from a small monument into a palace based on how much effort players put into it.
-Halls expand in size depending on how much was dedicated at each monument. For example: The more mini pets you dedicate, the larger the hall of mini pets becomes. Special displays are added for rare minis.
-Mini pets can still be carried about in GW2, and displayed anywhere.
-Destroyer weapons can be selected and wielded in GW2. They are customised and cannot be acquired by other means.
-Armor sets that were added to your HOM become available on your account as part of your wardrobe. You can select pieces from various armors as you create your GW2 character.
-The HOM becomes a base of operations, showing your progress both through GW1 AND GW2. It could also offer additional means of travel and other services.
-The HOM becomes customisable, much like a Guild hall. Players can choose different skins and lay outs to make their HOM suit their taste. For example: How about turning your HOM into a bastion of evil for your necro, complete with lava moats?
-Additional titles, such as the survivor title (which has no monument of it's own, but can be added) add extra halls to your HOM, thus expanding it even more. Each extra title could add additional functions to your HOM, such as a shrine of worship, a courtyard, a portrait gallery etc.
-All titles are unlocked for your entire account, instead of just being bound to the character that unlocked it in GW1.
-Animal compagnions that were added to your HOM, will roam the halls of your HOM in GW2.
-Henchmen that were added to your HOM are added to a special statue garden, where statues of all of them are displayed.

pm a link to where it is $10, and I'll buy it in your honor.
I'm not being bitter....I keep hearing how EotN didn't offer much and the story was boring and it is not essential for PvP play, and everywhere I can find its $30. I already own Factions and Nightfall, bought all three on release so $150 dollars. I'm not sure the $30 is worth it just to have my character remembered. I'll just probably recreate my characters really fast to reserve names.
I'm willing to wager that only 20-30% of the initial GW2 players will have owned EotN in the first place, and there will be a whole lot of names opened back up from people who a.) quit a long time ago or b.) didn't buy EotN.
Don't know if you still can find it for 10 bucks. Target had it for that though.

Its not worth it everything you get in guildwars 2 will have no value just to look good. I really think we need rewards that are tradeable.
