I believe the game named Guild Wars, came from the fact that Orr, Kryta, and Ascalon had guilds in war between each other, not the fact that you are required to join a guild so you can play.

I wonder if instead of your type influencing what missions you take, we have missions that influence what type your guild becomes. For instance a ratio ran in the back of the guild wars shows which mission your guild did the best in or killed the most bad guys in or whatever and so gives you a "title"(name given for lack of a better term). This isn't the best overall just the best average and have a min number of times played to get said title. You would also have the option of erasing the title or specific info on certain missions.
Each title could also give you benefits like the corsairs wouldn't attack you if your guild has their title. But unlike now where certain titles are "needed" by the populous these would just help you but other titles could help you as well. And they would never be needed just something that helps.
well that sounds interesting...
....it would be nice to be able to improvee your guild other than just collecting faction and equiping the guild hall...
well it is probably true that people with no guild can't get the full game experience...just think about it....
Don't be an idiot; posters don't think. Always explain your point.
Obviously, you're not getting the full game experience if you're not in a guild. Likewise, you're not getting the full game experience with an empty friends list - or with an empty ignore list for that matter. In every online game, the social environment is part of the game. Removing yourself from that environment is a choice you can make, you just won't make full use of the game's online facets. Being a virtual recluse however is your own choice. There's an abundance of Guilds out there and plenty are looking for members. Being in a Guild is not a hard requirement to meet - you can even build your own, just for yourself.
Also I'd advice everyone to ignore sorudo except to goad him. It makes the whole foruming experience so much more enjoyable!
well, this system can work.
I'll start with:
warrior guild
thief guild
mage guild
If, you're in a party with full guild mates, you are entitled to a certain bonus. say in a mage guild: +10 maximum energy while in a warrior guild, it could be: +100 max health and in a thief guild, it could be, +10% movement speed.
This is only of course possible if more than half the team are from the same guild.
sounds good to me. Discuss...
