Farm
Aww - they are still very pretty... I had one drop for me and my first thought was to sell it - but I can't part with it...
Yes, I am one of those people whose storage is always full. :P
Ok, I pretty much Abandon all the quests that aren't primary (I used to have my whole quest log full)
Sure, IDS farming does take a long time as I've been told.
Ya, no one every sells them, and every once in a while I see people goin' "WTB IDS"
Ya, I used to play RuneScape, and my bank was always full, 'cause I couldn't part with anything that was in my bank, EVEN the quest items that I did the quest already, that I don't need.
i'd like to begin by apologizing for the necro-post but i have a few questions on the IDS farm?
1. does this build still work
2. how do i get past the ice snares from the Ice Elementals; OF makes me run really slow and i can't seem to outrun them. Without OF, i get snared,, then interupted when i try to re-cast my other enchantments. Is it a matter of muscling through them at 50% speed till they go away?
an observation that i've made is that GoS is far superior to Serpents quickness when it comes to perm OF even at 0 air magic. This has given me the idea of going E/Me and using Mantra of Frost for Energy magement however i won't have Troll Unguent for the degen.
Any suggestions?

Perma sin works nicely in ids farming, better than the old builds
The ele build works, but it takes a much longer time to get to the cave than the perma sin. You might consider taking your h/h with the ele and flag them out.
The wammo build used to farm them a long time ago was actually made useless by the armor stacking nerf. it wasn#t really good anyway.
I remember doing it in the old days with a w/mes and mantra of frost, so yes, mantra of frost is a good idea in ids farming.
The greatest problem is "Mind freeze" and the interrupts from maelstrom.
So if you (OP) go for a ranger, I would sugest an r/mes with dwarven stability, either melandru's res or mantra of frost, "I am unstoppable" (consider to consume some booze while using it for the hp gain) and some dmg from the cryer line: arcane echo cop plus a running stance (storm chaser e.g.) to get you there. For the free slots: more selfheal and/or more dmg from the mesmer line.
A possible alternative would be a modified resilience toucher, similar to the one used in vaettir farming. (can be found on PvX wiki)
For your practise runs: take your h/h along and flag them out, so you can be ressed and also take some candies vs dp and to boost your attribs. And use the southern route for the run, it's easier. There is however one unlucky boss spawn possibility there, which makes it near impossible to pass.
The advantage of a ranger is the resistance against ele dmg, which one could further increase by using frostbound insignia.
