X is pretty much my favorite game ever. I remember renting it from Blockbuster, thinking it was the tenth game in the MM series, missing a jump on the first level and sliding down / jumping back up instead of plummeting, and then choosing chill penguin's stage and getting the Dash Boots and then my little brain exploded.
Later X titles lost a lot of the magic, though. Really after 3. Some of the later ones are passable, but nothing beats the first three.
I also have a soft spot for MM 6 because it was one of the two I owned (that and 3). Plus, I love the Rush adapters.
Don't Starve is a lot of fun. You can play a 15 minute demo in Chrome. It doesn't officially release until March, but if you pre-order ($12; $15 at release), I believe you get full access immediately (open beta). I think they also give you a second copy of the game...
Basically, you start in a field and have to collect stuff for survival: Food, logs, kindling, etc. You use the stuff you collect together to build tools and stuff. For example, you can combine grass and I think saplings to build a trap. You can then bait the trap with a carrot to catch a rabbit. You can build an axe, which you use to chop trees, to keep your campfire burning. You can cook the rabbit on the fire. You HAVE to build a fire at night or you die automatically.
I like it, but I might wait until it goes on a Steam Sale or Humble Bundle (though I may have missed a Humble Bundle already, can't tell). It's good, but it's the holidays and I just splurged on a couple of things and need to get Christmas shopping going...
Sounds similar to minecraft with less building. I'm not a big fan of the art style but it sounds interesting.

I think the screen effect flipping like old TVs is interesting but I think it could get annoying over time. It looks to be more of an old-school puzzle game (e.g. Maniac Mansion) except with a more dynamic environment (e.g. moving beasts following you around), and a crafting system. Not my style of gaming, but it really could be an refreshing mix of game mechanics.

Ah good to know. Yeah, retrospectively, what I said was dumb. Thanks for pointing it out.

But yeah I guess I can see the minecraftish elements, but this is more like.. survivalcraft. Whereas minecraft is building cool **** with a side of surviving. And then Terraria is surviving with a side of building cool ****.
And speaking of Terraria, there's apparently an update coming soon which will also put it on consoles:
I hope that means it has an overhauled matchmaking system on the PC as well.
Guess not:
As of February 2012, the developers announced that they would not be continuing active development, but would release a final bug-fix patch. However, 505 Games is porting the game to several video game consoles and adding new content. 505 Games does not have the rights to update the PC version.
