"Purged in death's shadows, Necromancy wails anew, Life that is breathless."
Space Marine is about ten bucks on Steam today. It's on my wishlist, but I really haven't had much time to play lately. There are other games I want to play, too, so... I'm tempted to just forget about it altogether, as it doesn't seem like a must-play.

Interesting--did not know. Within that cohesive art style, I would still like to have seen Diii keep closer to the look of D2.
For example, how the buildings look here

I just wish D3 were more "realistic" like D2, which IMO gave it that "dark" or even "gothic" quality. While WAY off from Torchlight, D3 reminds me of it more than D2.

I don't see how it doesn't look realistic.. going off those two pics, the latter seems darker and more gothic to me than the top one does, by far. The whole atmosphere with the fog and dreary buildings and such.. it gives off the feeling that New Tristram is inherently creepy. Harrogoth has none of that.

I like both art types. Variations on a theme, really.

I believe there's a blue post (possibly by Bashiok) about the art style CM. They decided to go for something that would "age well" rather than going for the best of the best graphics.
While I do prefer the harder lines of everything in D2, I still think D3 looks good.
