    new IGN article-Activities

    http://pc.ign.com/articles/110/1102939p1.html

Pretty cool, but personally i am not really interested in activities. I had no desire to do polymock or any other repeatable game type things in EotN.
But there are interesting things that can be learned from reading the article.

I hadn't seen this picture before linked to the article:

That's pretty intense stuff, it looks like twenty some characters taking on a huge monster. If that's what we have to look forward to in the even system, wow.

Interesting. Sounds like GW2 is going to have a wide variety of stuff one can do.

I like the idea of earning skins and such.

Thanks Agent, but its working fine now. Must have been my internet or something..

Guildwars2 is looking better and better. I do wonder how those bar fights might look like.

One of the more exciting examples of the activities ArenaNet has planned is the bar brawl, which removes the player's weapon and pits them in a battle royale where the environment is the only thing that can give them an edge. Picking up a beer stein and smashing it over the head of another patron, for example, is an acceptable – even encouraged – course of action. As is chugging a beer and spewing its toxic contents, or waiting until the last moment to get the killing blow on a worn-down enemy. It's an activity that is far-flung from the tight, organized combat we can expect from the main game. "The nice thing about working on activities is that, where we want to, we can take the core mechanics and just toss them out," says Game Designer John Stumme.
Awesome. Though a minigame that sounds awesome in concept sometimes ends up unentertaining in execution (Polymock and the Norn Tournament come to mind), so we'll see.

The stuff about feats sounds interesting, as does the personality profiler, though I'd want more details on the latter before passing judgment on it. I'm pleased that achievements seem to be account-based, not character.

Yeah, they've created some cool minigames and others not so much. Dragon arena and rollerbeetle racing are great, but polymock not so much. I don't doubt that there will be some cool minigames in GW2 and bar brawling sounds like one of them.

Feats are like little daily achievements that give the player more immediately achievable goals that reward the player with experience upon completion.
I like the idea of feats that encourage you to do multiple things instead of just sitting there killing imps or whatever all day. I wonder how intrusive it'll be though. You logged on! Feat completed.

Personality is another aspect being introduced. Previously known as diplomacy, in Guild Wars 2, it serves to establish the type of character you are playing.
Personality also sounds cool, but I wish there was more info on it.

Since there will be carnivals, I'm hoping for some of those stupid-fun games you see in real-life carneys; A shooting gallery (already mentioned), knock over the bottles (or asura), a ring toss game, skeetball... you get the idea. I'm sure everyone has their own personal favorite stupid-fun game.

If the storyline were less epic, I'd say jobs might be fun (blacksmith, tanner, miner) but who's going to keep their day job when there's dragons to kill. And, yes, I'm a heavy rpger, so I know there will be some of you who see the mention of jobs, and react as violently opposed as mounts. But hey, a role-player is all about game immersion. I'd love to see a lot of rp elements included in (but not mandatory to) the game.

Some other articles were released yesterday.

(And of course the French interview which has led stupid people to claim that assassins have been confirmed, because it mentions an "Assassin" feat, not a profession.)
