I don't see why the surprise.
Some people do enjoy zen-like mindless tasks even independently of the rewards they get for them. It takes all kinds to make a bell curve.

I know, but hey, I thought this community, considering it played Guildwars, would be a bit better.
And sorudo, while you have a point that end-game doesn't mean puzzles, dungeons and bosses (thank god GW2 is proof of that) most MMOs are like that. Which is why I find it odd that people enjoy the mindless grind instead of the end-game.

You really should try and follow extracredits. They occasionally slip up some referencing and don't nearly go in depth or discuss abstracations often enough, but it's enjoyable and still full of information compared to other internet sources on game theory.
Well, if your idea of leveling is grinding foes in order to level then I'd have to agree that it is boring. For me though, I play through quests and enjoy the stories of some of them. I enjoy finding new places. If you're just racing through the game in order to reach the endgame then obviously you're not going to get much enjoyment out of leveling. I play the same way whether I'm leveling or at end game so it's a nice bonus to me to gain something out of it. Once I reach endgame it pretty much becomes repetitive. It doesn't make a difference to me that I'm killing the same re-skinned foes in a dungeon instead of outside of one.
Depending on the game, you actually go through dungeons and fight bosses before reaching end game so I'm not really sure why they seem mutually exclusive to you. As far as puzzles... I've yet to experience a puzzle in any of the MMOs I've played.
Unless the game has a story that I want to see to the end, once I reach max level the game goes downhill for me. By that point you'll most likely have experienced all the aspects of the game and it just becomes a matter of doing the same thing over and over again in the end game. Now, if AI were different past that point, or things were more challenging somehow other than just ratcheting up numbers, then I'd be interested... unfortunately that doesn't usually happen.

I can't say that levelling is the most boring part of the MMOs I played. I didn't get past it.

On the topic of innovation, I feel this is where I think Anet and Bioware potentially diverge.
It appears that Bioware is much more paying attention to cinematic-like presentation of their MMO. Anet on the other side is emphasizing a more artistic picture book approach and the game mechanics aspect more - not that story-telling is unimportant (we have all seen the efforts they have put in to create their own lore as opposed to SW where the new SW lore needs to be fit into an already expansive universe).
There is only one thing I am confused about: With all the cinematic experience, I have a feeling SW:TOR is more like a single player RPG. It's not a bad thing, just a vibe...am I the only one?

I think the way they're pushing their cinematics so much to showcase the game makes it look bad to me. There's a lot more to a game then cinematics. Do we really need to go back to DragonsLair style gaming? Watching a movie and spinning a wingly ding around while watching it because that's what a lot of the game looks like going by their videos. From all the videos I've seen, they're not even really all that cinematic either. You have an establishing shot, then you go to a two camera cross cutting bonanza of talking heads, then you have a med/wide shot as the thing wraps up. gg with all that money spent on voice acting. It might not be that bad. I'll have to see how it works when it comes out.

Cinematics are great for those who want them... personally, I don't care for much of it in games, but they're bonus rather than bad. Now saying that they have good cinematics doesn't mean gameplay is bad.
It's all about gameplay for me.
